Cinnamon helps your insulin transport glucose from the food you eat to your cells. So in a sense, it helps with IR and diabetes, because it makes your body use sugar more efficiently.
I just started taking it a few days ago and I can already feel a difference. I don't absolutely crave carbs like I used to and that helps me leave room for vegetables and other good things! Obviously I haven't lost weight yet but I'm hoping that will come in time.

Oh yes- Cinnamon is absolutely fantastic! I've been taking it for about 4 months and my life has changed. I used to get those "sugar shakes" if I hadn't eaten in awhile. I haven't had one since. I don't crave sugars like I used to and I've lost weight without even trying.

Ive been taking Cinnamon for a little over a month now and I feel great also!
I have more cravings for meat products and veggies now, although Ive been really bad and I just can't seem to give up my Dr. Pepper
I used to get VERY VERY tired every night after I ate supper and I never really knew why.. but ever since I started taking Cinnamon, about a week or two later I noticed I wasn't napping after meals and I didn't seem tired at all. It was as if I didnt eat anything! Also I don't feel the strange "brain fog" I got after eating that contributed to my sleepiness. It was almost as if my brain wanted to shut down after I ate supper Weird I know!
I think Cinnamon is definitely worth a try, even if you dont think you have insulin resistance. If you have anyone in your family who has Diabetes (who doesnt, these days?!) then you could be a good candidate for Cinnamon.
As for me, I can't even count the number of family members I have that have diabetes on both hands, there's too many! So Im hoping Cinnamon will prevent or slow down the process of myself getting it one day.
lmao I always type soooo much!!

Is this something I should talk to my dr. about (did you?) or can I just start taking it? If I can just start taking it, what mg should I consider? What side effects are there? Thanks for the info, ladies.

I bought it in capsule form so the bottle says a "serving" is 1000 mg, two capsules a day. I know some ladies here take 2000 but I'm starting with what the bottle tells me.
I didn't talk to my doctor first but it couldn't hurt. I don't believe there are any side effects besides feeling good!

I think im going to give this Cinnamon a try as well. Its worth a shot, anything to help with these sugar/carb cravings. Im trying to lose 20lbs by Feb.
My father is a physician and when I told him that I was taking it... he was thrilled! He also raves about fish oil (at 4000-5000 mg per day). Of course, you build up. Don't just start taking all of it at first. I would still talk to your own physician though... most don't know about herbal remedies, but some know more then others.
