Default cinnamon during pregnancy?

I've been taking cinnamon and have heard that it can be dangerous during pregnancy at a pharmaceutical dose, possibly causing uterine contractions. I've also heard that this isn't true and cinnamon is fine. I know that the amount used in food is fine - I just want to know if I should stop taking cinnamon capsules if and when I get pregnant (I'm not on Metformin and I'm worried about PCOS-related miscarriage).

I'm pretty sure doctors are going to say don't do it during the first trimester, better safe than sorry - but I would be greatly comforted to hear that someone's taken cinnamon throughout her entire pregnancy. Anyone?

Hey there

I carried on taking cinnamon till 4 months and I believe it helped my IR and reduced my risk of miscarriage but I was found to have a short cervix at 23 weeks (1.8cm) and some said that I was at risk for premature labour, so I stopped. The Drs didnt think I was at risk of prem labour and wanted to monitor me, saying some cervixes are just shorter by nature.

Anyway I stopped taking cinnamon and took lots of bed rest and my cervix was back up to 2.8cm which the Drs were very satisfied with and I carried the baby to 42 weeks and ended up being induced!

But I dont know whether the cinnamon contributed to the shortening of the cervix or what. I think I will take it till 12 weeks next time and stop all herbs. I will then just control my IR with diet.

Good luck!
