Default Cinnamon Extract

I've been reading that cinnamon extract can help with insulin resistance. Has anyone tried it?

I take cinnamon but don't know if I notice a difference.

There's another thread on here about vinegar's effect on blood sugar and preventing a drastic rise in blood sugar... some posted that they take 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar before a meal. I'm going to try that next.

Good luck,
Heather

Hi,

I've read (in this forum and research papers) that cinnamon can be toxic as it is not water soluble and the body may accumulate it. The effects of this accumulation haven't been researched and I haven't found any evidence that it could be harmful.

A cinnamon extract has been commercialised as Cinnulin PF and it is meant to be water soluble and therefore won't build up in your body. However, I have looked for it everywhere and have been unable to find it. It is added to some weight loss or muscle building supplements. I don't really trust the extract in this form.

I have been taking 1000 mgr of cinnamon in capsule form for nearly a year now and it has been absolutely fine. I feel great and a lot of my pcos symptoms have improved a lot.

Hope this helps.

p.s. also check the thread where cinnamon causing miscarriages is discussed if you are ttc.

thanks for the replies. I'm not TTC, so I think I'm ok there.

I thought the cinnamon in the capsules was water soluable and the table stuff isn't?

Does apple cider vinegar only work if you're eating a meal with carbs? I'm doing low carb right now so I wonder if I would need it?

I've been taking Cinnulin PF for a couple of years now and have had a lot of success with it. I was able to get off the Met. by taking it and exercising. The brand that I buy is called Cinnabetic.

the capsules are only ground cinnamon stuck in the capsules, so they are not water soluble.

audrey's mama, where do you get your cinnabetic from?

I buy it at my local health food store. I see you're in London though so I have no idea. I did a google search and saw that they sell it on amazon and iherb. I don't know if you can buy off those sites. I do like the product though. The capsules are small and you only need two a day. I pay $20 a month.

Thanks for the info. I have looked in most of the health shops in London and everyone looks at me as if i'm asking for heroine. I think I will have to order online from iherbs.

Thanks Deb! I'm in Canada, I'll look around. It seems like it could really help me.
