OKay, so I have been taking Cinnamon 1000mg in at bedtime for over a week and I have gained 5 pounds! I have not changed anything else. I think it has curbed my carb craving and I did have a few extra bursts of energy, but I have gained weight. I am so frustrated! I am having a hard time giving up soda. I am down to less than one per day and I have been drinking Sprite Zero as a replacement and I have one of those a day sometimes two. I have been drinking the SPrite Zero for a few months now, so I do not think it has caused it. Damn, I wish I knew what was wrong with me!

I'm down to 1000 mg a day...I cut back because I started the yaz birth control pill three weeks ago. I feel like crap on this stupid BCP! I have no energy and I am feeling icky overall...even with the Cinnamon!
Anyone else on Yaz or BCPS and taking cinnamon?

Sorry to hear about your frustrations! I'm still learning myself and have only been taking cinnamon for a week now, but it would make sense to me that you should take it with meals if it's meant to help your glucose levels. I could be wrong, but maybe you could try taking it with your meals instead (or maybe a the meal that's heaviest in carbs). Also, I've caught myself a few times thinking, "Well, I'm taking this and this now so I can have that pastry that I've been denying myself for months." Luckily, I've noticed myself doing that so I've been able to catch it.
My first major change when I was DX was to cut down on my sugar in my morning coffee. I like it strong, sweet & creamy. Once I sat down and added up all the calories and carbs in my morning coffee I was shocked! I gradually started substituting artificial sweeteners so I didn't hardly notice. And I was shocked to find that I started dropping about 1.5lb a week without doing anything else. Once you get yourself weaned off sodas you will notice a bigger difference and then you can pick something else in your diet that needs to go and work on that next - slowly.
I started cinnamon a few weeks ago. I also added chromium picolinate. I wanted to be cautious at first until I knew how my body was going to react. I haven't had any low-sugar moments luckily and am wondering what type of dosages you ladies were taking?
I'm doing 1000mg cinnamon a day - one 500mg capsule w/ lunch & at dinner
Also 400 mcg Chromium. - one 200mcg at lunch & then at dinner
I know the Chromium is the lowest dose they sold, but I'm worried about taking too much if I up it for every meal. I've also heard not to take more than 1000mg cinnamon per day.

I was taking 600 mcg of Chromium Piconilate along with 2000 mg of Cinnamon before and had no problems at all. However, if you are really concerned about this, you should definitely see a naturopath about it, know what I mean?

Well, I'm not too concerned, just cautious. I wanted to up everything and take it at every meal, so I'm just going slowly. How long did you do that dose? And are you still taking it? thanks!
Does anyone know of any problems when taking vitex and cinnamon together.
Im taking vitex and after reading the threads here im thinking about giving this a try.
The dose on my bottle of Cinnamon recamends 2,200 mg of cinnamon a day. ITs the NOW Cinnamon Bark brand. Someone mentioned they heard not to take more than 1000 mg a day?

Hey how is everyone doing? I have not been here in a while, busy end of the summer for us, and been feeling like crap while on the Yaz BCP. Still on 1000 mg of Cinnamon, I'm thinking of upping it back to 2000 mg because I do get concerned about my insulin levels.

Hello! The cinnamon seems to be doing good things to me. I have lost wieght, it is literally falling off of me! My cravings have diminished to almost Zero, and my appetite has been cut, My belly keeps getting smaller and smaller! I am taking Cinnamon Bark from NOW brand, 2 caps 3x a day, for a total of 3,600 mg a day!!!

Hi Girls! I had to give up cinnamon, because combined with the hyponidd and d chiro inositol I was getting very hypoglycemic. I have just got to the stage where I am able to tollerate the full dose of hyponidd and d chiro inositol together. Its taken time. Ive had a 39 day cycle without acupuncture!
When the D chiro inositol runs out I will switch to around 1500mg cinnamon with hyponidd full dose. The key is to build up slowly I guess

Well Ive been taking 2000mg cinnamon and I love it. My cravings are down to nil and Im losing weight. Down to 146 now. Still to O. Wish me luck
