Red face Clomid 3-7 VS 5-9

Hey all,

Last cycle i took 50mg of Clomid 5-9 and no O.
This cycle im starting to wonder... if take it 3-7 vs the 5-9.
My Doc isnt really monitoring me. To this date he has only done CD21 Progesterone test......... and yes I know the dangers .... but he is the only Doc who has been willing to Rx Clomid for me. I know this is not a valid reason, but oh well. If I feel any pain I will DEFINATELY stop this treatment.

Ok, so since he wont really know the difference... what does your Doc been doing 5-9 or 3-7. I have seen so many success storys on the 3-7 that I think this is what im gonna do.

If you or a friend is/are on Clomid please reply and give me your opinion. Oh BTW im on CD1. I will post my chart just in case you wanna look at an ugly chart

Oh another thing... sorry i know i ask alot of questions (lol) but What dosage of Glucophage were you on when you Ovulated on Clomid? and after how many cycles was Ovulation restored after Glucophage?

TIA

From what I know, 3-7 is MUCH MORE common! Doesn't mean it works any better, but it is more common.

I'm not sure what the difference is in the 2 different times to take Clomid really??

I heard it had to do with your cycle length and that if you normally had a LONG cycle, you'd be given 3-7 to make you O sooner...if you had a short cycle and right after you possibly O AF comes, then you'd be given 5-9 to make you O later.

Good Luck though!!

Hi there,
I have PCOS and have just had my first round of Clomid (2 x 50mg tablets to be taken Days 2-6). I also have just 21-day Progesterone blood tests to have taken, and no scans!
My Consultant is very good, and I trust her, so although I haven't been offered an Ultrasound Scan here I am not that worried - unless I start experiencing alot of pain or whatever.
Currently, Ive just taken Day 6's tablets, and this cycle have had no side-effects whatsoever on Clomid - dont know whether thats good or bad really! lol
Anyhow, Im on them for 3 months so I will do my 3 cycles worth and then I think the next stage is Ovarian Diathermy a little while along the line. Ive heard good success rates after that too! So, here goes!
Best of luck with your TTC and the Clomid - it isnt always suitable, and doesnt always work with PCOSers so I am informed, but Ive been put on it by my consultant and there's no harm in trying these things is there. Im not a fertility expert, but thats what she trained in so I am happy for now to trust her judgement.
I hope it works for you soon, and am sending you oodles of babydust!
Lots of love, Kachina xx

Default I don't think it matters...

I don't think it makes a difference whether you take it 3-7 or 5-9. My first month I took it 5-9 because it was a "go ahead and try it this month" thing, at the last minute. The next month, I took it 3-7,.. I didn't O either time. The second month, I went up to 100mg instead of 50mg.

I didn't have any montoring either except for Prog. test on cd 21 then cd22 because of the weekend. I'm DEMANDING u/s this month,... I need more than Prog. level. My first month it was 1.5, second 1.2; from what i'm told it should be around 12-15

I hope it works better for you! Lots of Luck!
