Clomid...causing excess hair growth? Ok, a little history: I was an adult diabetic with PCOS. I went low-carb, and I've lost about 140 lbs in the last 2+ years. Last year, we started TTC with no luck in 6 mos. My GP referred us to an infertility clinic then, because I was fast approaching the age of 35.
At that time, I had completely reversed my Metabolic Syndrome and had no overt PCOS symptoms anymore, including almost all my excess body hair falling out and being replaced with fine hair (except my chin. yay.) Bloodwork looked perfect (cholesterol, tri-glycerides, liver, kidneys, glucose to insulin ratio, and all that good stuff.) My period was very heavy but regular, and the only thing that seemed to be off is that I wasn't always ovulating.
All right, so we figured out my hormones are off and I have one working fallopian tube, so 3 months ago, I started on Clomid, 100mg. Today was the first dose of my third month.
Maybe 4-5 weeks ago, I noticed an increase in hair on my chin. A couple weeks ago I noticed an increase in hair on my left cheek (not the right,) and on that side, the hair is falling out at my widow's peak. About the same time I noticed my leg hair seemed much thicker. Then I noticed last night that I had three thick hairs starting to grow on my chest. Then later I noticed thick, black hairs starting to come in on my right arm, as well! (not too much on the left)
What the...? Is the Clomid causing this? I'm on no other medication that I haven't already been taking for a year, Xanax and Zoloft (though I should also be starting Metformin this month despite the normal glucose to insulin ratio.) I did a search and found nothing about this being a side-effect of Clomid, but I have no other explanation.
I do plan to ask my RE about this, but any experiences and such would be appreciated. I'll do what it takes to have a child, but if at all possible, I'd really prefer not to have to shave my nipple hair to nurse... o_0
Thanks,
