Default clomid & excessive bleeding

Hi ladies. i was wondering if anyone else experiences excessive bleeding while taking clomid. i bled for 16 days straight. some days were super heavy, some were light. i got into the dr and he went ahead and gave me clomid again even tho it was day 16. so i've taken 2 doses so far. 100 mgs. did anyone else experience prolonged bleeding while taking clomid? this is my 3rd month and hope next month isn't a repeat. my first 2 months were completely normal.i am on clomid for failure to ovulate. my progesterone levels were 5.4 and 6.9.. if i dont get pregnant this month, i will have my clomid upped next month and metformin will be added.
thanks

Wink Clomid and Bleeding

Hi

I started my first round of clomid and this month I had my period for 11 days and it stopped and then after taking the clomid for the 5 days I started bleeding again 4 days later.
Does anybody know if this is normal after finishing the 5 days of clomid.
I see my obgyn tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, Clomid works by binding to estrogen receptors, fooling your body into thinking it has less estrogen than it does, causing it to produce more estrogen. Excess estrogen can cause heavy, prolonged bleeding.

I'm not an expert, but I would believe that, if you did not ovulate on Clomid at first, it would simply just increase your estrogen when you take it, while you would not produce the progesterone to balance it out. Every time you would take another dose, it would just increase your estrogen, until you either ovulate or stop using it.

My first cylce of clomid was last month and just 50mg. The blood tests were 4.5? I guess they should be aroung 9.I got my period for 3 days, the first day was aweful. Very heavy and painful. They gave me perks!!So now the doctor gave me 100mg of clomid and I havent taken it yet. Good luck

Exclamation

I went and see my OBGYN today and the reason why I ended up bleeding is because the clomid through me into an anovulation and so we are going to try again.
So needless to say I didn't ovulate this time......
Doctor says it may takes a few months for my cycle to be right and accept the clomid.
I start provera at the end of the month and then I start the cloimd again.
I am going to keep my fingers crossed.....

This also happened to me about 2 years ago. I never got an answer on why I had my period for 2 weeks following my first clomid cycle. I'm now on my second round of clomid (2 year's later) and am awaiting AF. I'm hoping it's not that long again. ***BABYDUST***
