When I was initially dx with PCOS, the Dr told me that most Dr's are only allowed to perscribe 8 cycles of clomid to their patients due to the fact that the long term effects of this drug are not entirely known.

I was dissapointed by this because I feel that clomid has worked for me. On 25mg a ovulated and fell pregnant (ectopic), and on the 2 subsequent courses I also ovulated but did not fall pregnant.

On the Trying to conceive board there are many cysters in the USA who are talking about their 13th clomid cycle???

Does any one else in Oz been told about only having 8 cycles??????

I think atleast in the US that they are only suppose to do 6 cycles. But I do think that it has a lot to do with the dr and what they will do and wont do.

My dr told me we would do 6 cylces of clomid, and if I wasn't pregnant after that, we would move on to other treatment. I thought the reasoning was if I weren't pregnant after 6 months of the clomid, there maybe a less ovbious reason for it.... (but I didn't actually ask so I'm not so sure now...)

Anyway, Good Luck with it, its a good start that you are o'ing on 25mg...

My ob/gyn told me 6 cycles also and then moving on to injections.

Thank God I fell pregnant on my 6th cycle as I was kinda scared about the injections.
