I took clomid CD 3-5 (150mg), and I am on CD8 today. The last time I took clomid, it was a 50mg dose. I didn't have any side effects, except that it dried me up. This time I had terrible mood swings, etc. Today I have something very strange and a little upsetting happen to my vision.
I was tired and so I decided to lie down or a few minutes. When I closed my eyes, my head felt like it was swimming. The dizziness was very strong. When I opened my eyes, the dizziness went away. After a few minutes of this, I looked up, and, I'm not exaggerating here, my vision started jumping left and right by several inches. The jumps happened very rapidly and I couldn't focus on them. It was like someone was shaking my visual field back and forth. I closed my eyes again to try to make it go away, got terribly dizzy, felt like I was spinning, and then freaked out and stood up, out of bed.
Once I stood up, I was totally, 100% fine.
I haven't had any major floaters. There were a few flashes of light on CD3 and a few minor spots on my vision today, but nothing serious.
Is this cause for concern? I assume the change in blood pressure did something to make my vision funny when I was laying down (versus standing up). I'm not sure whether I should contact a doctor or not.
Clomid is known to cause dizziness and visual disturbances. Since being on it, I have had some dizziness as well, mostly when I am changing position, such as going from laying to standing up (or vice versa), or if I am bending down for some reason, and then stand back up. Just like you, I also felt more dizzy when I would lay down and close my eyes (a "swimming" feeling, like you're floating in wavy water)...it always improved upon opening my eyes or standing up. Clomid is also known to cause visual spots or flashes, and it is supposedly completely normal.
However, if this becomes a regular occurence (several times or more a day), becomes severe (it doesn't correct itself within a few minutes or upon standing/changing position), or if it affects your daily life in a way where you cannot function, work, etc then I would say call your doctor.
I've had a few strange symptoms with dizziness, and some spots, as I said, but I am chalking it up to being on the Clomid, since it has also been giving me some headaches and hot flashes. Most importantly, try not to worry about it being anything serious because it's mostly likely nothing and just a side effect. Best of luck!
