Default Clomid and LH levels

Hi Ladies,

I'm a thin cyster with high LH levels and absent periods. A year ago I had some bloodwork done and my LH/FSH ratio was 4:1 (21 to 5). I've been on Met for 3 months with no discernible improvement. I've been taking OPK's and I've had a positive every day for 20 days. So apparently my LH is still elevated. Does this mean the Met hasn't worked at all?

I'm planning on going on Clomid next month. Does Clomid help lower LH? I know it stimulates FSH and LH, but I'm wondering if it will help regulate the ratio. Is it possible for Clomid to work on women with high LH levels? Are there any ways to lower LH levels? Help!

Thanks.

Hi Mrs. Byron,

I am a "normal" cyster...(5'3, 125). I too have elevated LH...I get positives on my OPK all the time...even on 1500 of metformin. However, if they get the dose of clomid correct it your opks should be accurate. When I was on 50 mg of clomid, I still got positives every day...however when I went on 100, I only got a positive surge when I was actually Oing.

So to answer your question...Clomid can work for you and it will help your LH levels if it is the right dose.

I think I answered your question...

thanks for this post. i am also an average sized cyster (5'0, 105lbs) with high LH (it was 21 when i was tested last week).

i am prob going to do clomid this cycle. my RE also wants to prescribe me dexamethasone which he says is necessary to lower the LH levels although i havent seen much info about it. anyway i am going tomorrow to get the Rx so we'll see what happens.

good luck!!!
