I had my 1st appointment with the RE and have been on Met.1500mg for 3 months and am starting clomid and this shot in a few weeks. Let me know if anyone else has done the same and what side effects you had. Thanks!

Points: 298.00 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 298.00 | I took clomid and ovidrel last month and have to do it again this month. I am on 50 mg of clomid, 4 mg of Avandia, .25mg of dexamethasone. I had my husband inject the shot. I took the shot on a wednesday adn on thursday I had pains on my left and right side. Probably ovulating the doctor said. But, then on Sunday I had awfull pains on my left side. It hurt so bad that I had to lie down for a while. The nurse said I couldnt take nothing for the pain because it interferres with ovulating. Other than the pains I had no other side affects. The injection site might be sore for a few days. I hope this helps. GOOD LUCK! |

The very first time I did it was with Clomid 150mg and the Ovidrel injection at CD17. That very first time, I had a lot of pain the day after I took it for about 8-10 hours straight then at 3:00am the pain mysteriously went away. Apparently that was ovulation pain because I got pregnant that cycle, although miscarried at 10 weeks. I then did Clomid 150mg with the Ovidrel injection two more times with no success. So, I can say it has worked for me but not consistently. One good thing though is that the Ovidrel now comes pre-mixed all ready to go in the syringe...back when I did it for the first time in January 2003 you had to mix the saline into the powder and go through a whole song-and-dance with it. It definitely is much better now with everything pre-mixed. I am actually doing Ovidrel again in a few weeks after doing my first round of Follistim injections so I will try to update this post and give my impression of how it worked with the other injectible medications. Lots of luck and babydust to you!

Did you do it in your stomach or leg? My husband or sister are going to give it to me because i really don't think i could do it myself. I also didn't know to refrigerate it, i wonder if that will effect the efficiency of it.

Points: 1,983.64 Bank: 21.65 Total Points: 2,005.29 | Reply to your question... When I did the Ovidrel injection before, I did it in my leg. At the time I did it over a year and a half ago, I did it in the top of my leg kind of perpendicular to my leg. Now, my RE has everyone doing the injections (regardless of whether it's Ovidrel, Lupron, Follistim, etc) on the side of the leg at a 90 degree angle to the leg which is still perpendicular, just on the side instead of the top. I think you can also do it in your abdomen...just depends on your personal preference. I actually started doing my Follistim injections in my abdomen and Lupron on the side of my leg. In my mind, I am putting the Follistim closer to where it needs to be (above my ovaries basically) so it just seems to make more sense to me, even though apparently there is not a difference between the upper thigh and the abdomen since they give you the option of doing it at either place.
As far as refrigeration, I do know that the Ovidrel is supposed to be refrigerated. I am not totally sure if it would affect the efficacy of the Ovidrel...I guess it depends on how long it has been out. There should be a little patient information leaflett that came along with it that should indicate the temperatures you can store it at. I would say if you have any doubt, call your doctor and check about it to be on the safe side. Good luck to you...hope everything goes well!

I had my first injection last week, and i am going for bloodwork on Monday to see if it worked. My doc said i had 2 really good follicles, so i am hoping it worked. I will let you know when i find out anything... |

But I thought that taking Ovidrel you are supposed to ovulate a few days after? how come you went to the Dr a week after? did you do an IUI or are you just TTC naturally? |

Points: 269.32 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 269.32 | reply to maritza211 We are TTC naturally. The doctor gave me the injection, and i did ovulate the very next day. I was given the injection on CD14, the reason i did not go for blood work for a week is becuase your progesterone level does not go up until ovulation is fully completed. The ovidrel and 150mg clomid did make me ovulate, however i did not become pregnant this cycle. I am in the process of trying it again. I was also reading some of the other posts, and i just wanted to mention that i also had a lot of lower abdominal discomfort/ pressure the day following the injection of ovidrel, and it lasted about 8 hours, and then dissapeard.
Will keep you all posted on my situation! Baby dust to all! |
