Question CLOMID AND PROVERA PLEASE LOOK. DR'S ADVICES. WHAT DO YOU THINk???

Hello,

I want to my RE yesterday and left very upset. He asked me to take clomid cd 5-9 and then Provera on cd19-28. I asked him if clomid actually makes me o and i conceive if the Provera will not make me misscarry. All he said was "don't worry about it, everything will be fine"..

Does this sound right to you ladies. How am i going to start taking Provera so early in the cycle. Dr. said it's because i should start my period every 30-35 days and if i do conceive i am just getting extra progesterone which is okay because i have low progesterone??. My main worry is, how about if i ovulate late and don't catch it because Provera also raises temps.

I am very confused and not very convinced by this. Can you ladies please share you clomid and provera instructions, or at least tell me if this sounds logic to you all.

Thanks,

Smile Taking Provera when you could be pregnant

I know you posted several months ago and you probably have an answer already but I wanted to say that 12 years ago, I was taking clomid (4 pills at a time) for several months and did not get pregnant. I would repeat the cycle each month, start the provera, etc. Well, I finally did get pregnant and didn't know it because the home pregnancy tests came back negative. I took the Provera for 10 days and did not get my period. My doctor made me wait and then take another pregnancy test which was positive.

I was worried because I thought it would make me miscarry and I had a previous miscarriage several years earlier. I never did miscarry even though I took the provera. I think it is okay. Probably not great, but you should be okay. I was also taking dexamethasone at the same time to lower my testosterone levels to help me not miscarry.

I would be very careful, Provera is dangerous to an unborn feteus. I have always been told (and it says on the PIL in the Provera packet) that Provera must not be taken during pregnancy as it can cause birth defects. Are you trying to conceive? If so I would wait until at least day 28 do a pregnancy test and then start Provera.

Provera is the same as progesterone. When an egg is released your progesterone naturally increases, and if you dont conceive the progesterone falls and a period occurs. I'm guessing your dr prescribed it for 5 or 10 days, and about a week after you should get a period. If you don't, and you are pregnant you are just getting extra progesterone, and if not the provera may not have caused the progesterone to rise (and subsequently fall) enough to cause a period.

The fact that your Dr prescribed it because he thinks your cycles should only be 30-35 days is strange. Not all women's cycles are the same, and some regularly have a normal cycle length of 30-40 days. If you get your period regularly but your cycles are longer than 30-35 days, I would talk to him about not taking the provera. Personally, I feel uncomfortable taking provera, but my dr would like me to take it to shorten my regularly long cycles so the wait in between cycles is shorter and we have more cycles to try to conceive.

That sounds odd to me that your Dr. would have you start the provera after the clomid. In my case I don't have a period so my RE prescribed me provera which I take for 10 days. Then I usually start a period a day or two after that. Then on day 5 of my period I start my clomind (CD 5-9). If I don't O or get a BFN then the next month I start the process again and I am only prescribed my provera and clomind again once a blood pregnancy test is taken that way I don't take the meds if I am pregnant. Hope this helps!

my doc prescribed me 10 mg of provera i'm supposed to take for 10 days starting at the first of every month because I haven't been getting a period on my own only every like 3-5 months. This month I tried soy so I am hoping it worked for me to concieve. But now I'm nervous about taking my provera as today is the first of the month and if I did concieve it will be to early to tell.. do you think it will harm the baby if I am?
