Assuming its reccomended to use Clomid for TTC, is it common practice to give clomid a trial run before actually using it for TTC? Just to see if you're resistant to the drug?
Not sure why you'd do that...I've never heard of it. I think most people just jump right in and, if they don't ovulate on the first dosage, up it and try again.
I would definately not reccomend that since the most you can use clomid is 6 months. Then you would waste a month and there is no guarantee even if you ovulate on it the first time that you will concieve the first time. That would be just a wasted cycle.
The norm is 6 cycles but some Drs will do it longer or have you take a break before trying it again.

was wondering I tool my first trial of clomid 50 mg....also i'm on 200mg metformin.....clomid made me not have a period so I'm taking provera to start the period...does anyone know how long after you stop taking the provera that your period will come......and also have anyone took the clomid and then not had a period the month after??????
I agree dont waste a month giving clomid a trial run, they can do a clomid challenge to see if your ovaries will respond to clomid or not, ask your doctor about that. But you wont waste a month, you can still ttc during your challenge!
As for the provera question 7 days of provera/withdraw bleed two days after last pill for me! Clomid wasnt the cause of your non period most likely no ovulation was. Clomid is used to induce ovulation, 50mg must not be enough for you. they will prob increase to 100mg next cycle!
