Hi lawing,
Your doctor will most probably put you on medication to bring on a period. I think it's progesterone that you take, I can't remember, I had to take a medication called primolut, which is norehisterone, but it would be called something different in the states I guess. I took it for a week I think, and once I stopped, af came within a couple of days. So basically it induces af and the start of a new cycle so then you can begin clomid. Then you take clomid for 5 days usually, which could be taken cd 3-7, 5-9, depends on what your doc thinks will work best for you.
I have just gone through 4th round of clomid, and my cycles have been around the 35 days mark (from start of af until start of next af), and I have been lucky to only have to induce af the first time with medication, and then the last 3 times af has just come along exactly 14 days from approx. o'n. It just depends how your body reacts, and I think being on met has helped me get my cycles more regular too. I had the problem of too many periods to begin with (2 a month) but still not ovulating.
Good luck with it all, lots of baby dust to you!

You will take a progesterone supplement of some sort. I took Provera for 10 days the first cycle, but was perscribed it for 7 days the second and didnt need it since I had an anovulatory bleed.

It induces a period to give you a clean slate to begin your cycle with the clomid. It works pretty well!

Good luck!

If you're not having AF, it would be an idea to get Provera or Prometrium to bring on an AF, just so that you'll have a fresh lining with the Clomid.

Not all doctors make their patients do this... but IMO I think they should.

Before beginning a fresh Clomid cycle I recommend starting it with a nice new fresh cushy lining... that way you have optimal conditions for implantation in case you do Ov.

As for what Policewife said, that's fine if you Ov after you take the Clomid. But if you're like me... I don't, so I always have to bring AF on with Provera or Prometrium... I've only Ov'ed twice in the past year. But many woman do Ov on Clomid and have success, so in the future you might not need Provera or Prometrium...

Best wishes.

Lawing329: Clomid is used to induce ovulation, but you need to take something to start your period first. I went through a time when I didnt get a period for 3 months. My doctor put me on provera to start the period, and then she had me take clomid 50mg from cd5 to cd9 to induce the ovulation. Talk to your doctor about taking something to start the period. Hope this helps.

I was in your shoes a few weeks ago. Provera for 14 days...AF arrived on day 6 after last pill. I started Clomid 100 mg CD 5-9. I'm now on CD 12 and still waiting to see if I O.

Best of luck to you. I had no S/E's on Clomid so I hope you're the same.
