Default Clomid to regulate period

Hello,
I am 33 yrs old. I have PCOS and not had a period in 8 months. The Endo doctor prescribed 2000 mg of Gluc XR, 50 mg Spiro, and a blood pressure pill Norvasc. I thought after taking the Gluc for 5 months, I would have a cycle. I have tried Medroxyprogestrone with no success. Now, my doctor is desperate and wants me to take Clomiphene (Clomid) to get me to ovulate and have a cycle. It's difficult to find articles on Clomid for just regulating the period. I am single and have no plans of getting pregnant at this time. I got past the side effects of the Gluc. I don't know what to expect with the Clomid. Help!!!!

Niki,
I am not sure why your Doctor would prescribe clomid if you have no plans on conceiving?? All he has to prescribe is provera to bring your period on....you take 1 pill each day for 10days and it should show up on its own about 3-9 days after that!

GOOD LUCK!

Hi Mschin,
Thank you for the reply. I took Provera 3 times with no success. 10 years ago, I missed my period for 10 months and the Provera did not work. It's strange!! That why the doctor wants to try Clomid. At this point, I am willing to try anything.

Niki,
Have they checked for any cancerous cells? I hope and pray that it is not that!
Thats weird that Provera wouldnt work. How about taking the BCP for a month? That should also bring your period on.......just a suggestion!

Mschin,
Yes, I did try the BCP's for a month...no success. I have high blood pressure and can no longer take them. Had some blood tests (LH, FSH, Prolactin) two weeks ago and will know more on Tuesday 9/2. Believe me, I can't stop thinking about the cancer. She has not performed a biopsy yet.

Thank you for your suggestions, thoughts, and prayers. I appreciate it more than you know.

Thanks, Niki

The last time I heard of a woman taking clomid to regulate her periods was when a local woman had quintuplets! I don't know her history so I know this not much help, but I would proceed with caution!! Wishing you the best of luck.

Just wanted to give you an update on the Clomid. Well, it has been a week since I stopped the Clomid and no period. The day after my last pill, I thought maybe something would happen. I was experiencing pelvic pain and my breasts were hurting. The right one more so than the other. The nurse said I was most likely ovulating. I thought that was wonderful, but why aren't I having a cycle. Just found out I lost another 3 pounds and the magic number is 23. Exercising more, reducing stress, and dieting...but why isn't it happening. My doctor wants me to continue the clomid again for the next 2 months and see her at the end of November. This is so frustrating!!! Any suggestions??

Hi
you wont have a period straight after finishing the clomid .
This is just an example say you took the clomid from the 2nd - 6th of september then you ovulate a week to ten days later(give or take a few days every one is different)after ovulating you then have to wait 2 weeks for your period to arrive(again everyone is different and it can range between 10-16 days).
Have you had your estrogen levels checked? Mine are very low and never rise so i never get a period on my own either.Have also taken provera and it hasn't worked.

HTH

Nikki,
I was under the impression from the doctor it would happen soon after the last pill. Oh well, I will try to be patient. Never thought I would be so happy to get it. I had my estrogen checked a few weeks ago. She said it was ok. It's funny how all my tests are in the normal range, yet I'm not having a cycle.

Thank you for the reply. Maybe my visitor will come around the end of September. Hope she remembers where I live...it has been eight months. (LAUGH)

Thanks, Niki
