Default clomid resistance

this is probably a silly question but if you do not O with clomid does that mean you are clomid resistant or ..... what does it mean??

It depends on what dosage you are on I think. How many cycles have you been on it for? And has the dose been increased yet? Also you should be having regular bloods done to check hormone levels which will tell you if you have o'd or not. You should also be having internal scans done to check folical production on both ovaries, so you don't hypo simulate. These same scans will tell you when you are due to ovulate by the size of the folicles, and you can be given a shot of Profasi 5000 to induce ovulation. Thus it is assured that you have indeed o'd.

Also, I see you are taking met but that it's a new script...it can take several months before the met works. So the met/Clomid combo make work for you, but maybe not until you've been on the met for 3-6 months.

Hi!

Just a quick question, how come they haven't upped your Clomid dose? Usually if you are 'resistant' then even the higher doses of Clomid do not work.

How long have you been on Met? I started O'ing on Met after being on it for 8 weeks. I've now been on Met for 9 months, still no pregnancy, but I had to have a Lap & HSG before I can move on.

I guess I'll be adding Clomid again if I'm not pregnant this cycle. I took 50mg and 100mg of Clomid before ever starting on Met and I never ovulated so I'm not sure if I'll have to start out at 50mg again. My progesterone on 100mg of Clomid was a whole 1.8 (no O). With just Metformin it went up to 14.9.

Hopefully Met will help you as it helped me.

Good luck!

Bee

Thanks for your responses.
Bee,
I haven't started my met yet I am going to wait until Friday. I don't know why my RE didn't increase my 50mg clomid. He told me to now start 1500mg met and 50mg clomid. Other cysters have suggested I wait on the clomid and start off at 500mg met and work up to 1500mg so I think I may do that.

That's a good idea! I really didn't have too bad side effects from Met, but I think you should start out slowly.

Met will help regulate your hormones so it may be better to give Met a few months before adding Clomid back into the picture. Like I said I was resistant to Clomid, but now that I'm O'ing on Met, Met will help the Clomid to work more effectively.

Good luck to ya!

Bee
