I actually asked my doctor about this yesterday and I was told that it wouldn't hurt to take Robitussin but there are no solid facts to prove that it is a good remedy for hostile cervical mucus (which is what people take it for, not because they are experiencing dryness). HCM is a very thick mucus that sperm cannot penetrate. Robitussin is thought to thin the mucus and make it more hospitable to the sperm. According to my doctor, that theory is no where near proven. In fact, as it is, hostile mucus is rare enough that they don't see it too often. Therefore, I was told it wouldn't hurt to take it, but it probably won't do anything.
If you're worried about hostile mucus or just being dry, I would try something like Pre-Seed, a sperm-friendly lubricant which you can order online or it is sold in a few stores around the country. You can check their website for more info. I would say this is a better option than Robitussin if you want something with good results. Whatever you do, do not use any lubricants as this is harmful to sperm - Pre-Seed is the only thing I know of that works really well.
Good luck!
