Hi girls,

I am so confused and have read all the threads I could find on Clomid but I still had a few questions! I am thinking of taking it from my OB/GYN first since my RE is far away so here it goes! I would appreciate any input!

1. Are you monitored through your ob?
2. My ob doesn't do trigger shots of any kind so then how do you ovulate with Clomid?
3. Does clomid naturally release an egg if you respond?
4. Are there any birth defects or other problems related to taking and concieving with Clomid?

I wasn't monitored at all except the first 2 cycles to get progesterone test to make sure it was the right dose.
2. My ob doesn't do trigger shots of any kind so then how do you ovulate with Clomid?
Many women don't get a trigger shot with clomid. I didn't. It causes the body to ovulate. Sometimes it's better when mixed with gloucophage or metformin.
3. Does clomid naturally release an egg if you respond?
Yes, but just because you don't respond to the first dose does not mean it won't work for you. It sometimes can take more to get your body to respond. I started at 50mgs but my body needed 100mgs.
4. Are there any birth defects or other problems related to taking and concieving with Clomid?
None that I know of and none that my dr was concerned about. I think the biggest concern is multiples.

ETA- Sometimes clomid can make CM hostile and hard for sperm to swim through. I took Robitussin (plain kind) and it helps thin out the CM to make it easier for the sperm.

Thanks for responding Tamara! You have a beautiful little girl!

I hope my doctor will monitor to see if the dosage is correct but I guess I'll know more once I see her! We live 3 hours away from any RE's so its tough.

Also how much robittusin did you take and for how many days!? once a day or more? Everyday while you thought you were fertile?

I took Robitussin (one dose in the morning and one in the evening) a week before O and then a week after. Just to make sure I was covered if O came early or the little guys took a while to swim.

GOOD LUCK!!! That's tough with her being so far away! I hope the Clomid works for you! Definately talk to her about mixing it with Metformin! I've seen a lot of women have success quickly with that mix!
