Hi everyone,
I went to a great RE today who specializes in PCOS, and we decided that I might start clomid if I don't get pregnant on my own in the next few months. I ovulate, but my cycle lengths have always varied, most of the time being on the longer side (35-45 days). At any rate, I was wondering if any thin cysters have had issues with going on clomid and it making their uterine lining too thin? The reason I ask is that when he did an ultrasound today, he saw that I was close to possibly ovulating (in the next few days), but then he mentioned that my uterine lining wasn't super thick - I think he said it was 6mm. I didn't think much of his comment at the time, but tonight I was trying to do some research on clomid and a lot of articles mention that it can make your uterine lining thinner.
Has anyone experienced this? And should I be worried if my lining was around 6mm today? He didn't seem too worried about it, but maybe he thought it might get thicker over the next few days before ovulation...who knows. Or maybe I'm just worrying too much about every little thing!
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks
you sound exactly like me.
i was ovulating on my own but always around cd45 or so, which is no good.
i was put on clomid and never had any lining problems that i know of, but i DID add baby aspirin to my routine for a month or two before i got pregnant, it took us 5 rounds and we got pregnant. i also never needed to go above 50mg because i was already o-ing on my own.(although i tried 100mg once and got mild OHSS).

also, clomid does not affect everyones lining. there are many women that have no problem on it at all.everyone is different.
my dr had planned on me staying on it for 12 rounds because it had no affect on my lining.

Just curious, did your dr prescribe baby asprin? What dosage did your dr prescribe if he/she did? I saw it over the counter and was contemplating buying it. But I forgot to ask my RE if I could just take it on my own like normal asprins. (I don't have hypertension or gastric problems.) Just wondering if should start the baby asprin as a supplement early coz we're only starting clomid round 1 next cycle.
no my dr never prescribed it, but i just took it as a help since so many people recommend it. its good for your health in alot of ways anyway, for bloodflow etc.
it has to be LOW DOSE aspirin, what i was taking was 81mg only a day.
HTH.

i would also recommend having your progesterone checked to make sure you are Oing strong enough and do not have progesterone issues, so's not to have more of a risk of chemical or miscarriage if you do implant.
my progesterone was always sky high so it was another thing i didnt need to worry about.

I would personally avoid taking aspirin in any dose during pregnancy unless you have a condition for which your doctor recommends it. you should definitely ask your doctor first. It has been associated with miscarriage and placental abruption (although may help prevent it in certain medical conditions, such as a hypercoagulable state, like antiphospholipid antibody, that may be present in someone with recurrent miscarriages) Maybe a low dose is safer, but I would not take the chance unless I had a specific medical indication. The same with other NSAIDS like ibuprofen and naproxen. If you need a pain reliever, use tylenol.
but I do agree with getting your progesterone checked. It needs to be done about 7 days after ovulation (day 21 if ovulation occured at day 14, but for most of us that's not the case) because that's the time that the measurements are standardized for. Having a less that 12 day luteal phase is another indication that you are having insufficient ovulations.

Thanks stacey88 and DD56! Good food for thought. I dug a lil deeper and found that while a lot of good things are said about it thickening the uterine lining and improving blood and serum flow to the ovaries, asprin in the long run may actually hamper ovulation. (Something called luteinizing unruptured follicle syndrome where the follicles don't release eggs) Yeah I think DD56 is right- will check with RE before taking it. Over the counter stuff may or may not be suitable depending on our individual cases.
