Has anyone else had issues with blurry vision on clomid? I mentioned it to my RE and she took me off of it right away and said that I can never take it again. I guess Kaiser's policy is that as soon as a patient complains of anything vision related, they have to stop clomid, and can't take it ever again.
I don't remember her telling me that that could be a side effect. I'm just curious to see if anyone else has had vision issues with clomid.

when I get my clomid headaches I get slight blurred vision but it fades after about a minute, i think its the headache more than the clomid that causes it for me.

I had some vision issues on Clomid. It was always as night and would happen only if I went from like a dark room into a light room (like turning on the lights in the bathroom in the morning etc.) I would get like "spots" for a few seconds and then it would go away. My RE never thought too much of it and in the end I did 9 rounds before I got my BFP. Have you talked to your Dr. about trying Femara? I know several girls who have had luck with it...Good luck!

In very serious conditions blurring vision and spots while taking clomid can mean your retina is detaching which is why docotors should take it very seriously. I assume that is why your doc reacted so quickly-- b/c she doesn't want it to cause blindness. It was probably for the best even though it's hard to think you can't take Clomid anymore. I'm sorry to hear that for you!

Sarah...thanks...I think that my headaches and vision problems were more like what the other girls were describing.
Jen...I am so excited for you! How exciting! I had the spots and night issues too. Wow 9 rounds of clomid? Kaiser has a strict policy that you can't do more than 6 cycles with clomid (because of cancer risks and they say that if it doesn't work for you by round 3, it probably won't work for you) Femara? I will have to ask about that, I've never even heard of it. My RE talks like clomid is the be-all end-all!
Heather...I had a documented change in vision in my left eye and now they're sending me to opthalmology to get my retinas checked. My RE suggested injectables next. Do you guys have any information about those?

(In)fertility- Femara is also called Letrozole. Several of the girls on a thread I've belonged to for awile had used it and had success. I think there is even a thread in the TTC buddies section dedicated to it. From what I've heard it doesn't give you the lining issues and CM issues that Clomid can. As far as injectables, we were going to skip them and go straight to IVF because of male factor issues. Our insurance covers nothing related to infertility and injectables were going to be almost as expensive as IVF and IVF would have given us a much higher success rate. Turns out we got lucky though! Injecables would probably work really well for you if you had 5 follicles on only 50mgs of Clomid...I would imagine they would need to monitor you really really closely as you would probably produce a ton of follicles. I think the biggest con I have heard regarding injectables is the chance for lots of follicles and subsequent risk of high order multiples. I know there is a TTC buddy thread for injectable meds too...those girls would probably be able to answer any questions you have. Good luck!!!
