Clomid vs. Femera ??

I was just dx with PCOS & IR in April. I'm in month two of taking Met, I'm on 1500mg/day. I was on 1000mg/day of the ER but the pharmacy apparently mistakenly gave me that when the doc actually wanted the non-ER. I am pretty angry about taking the wrong one for 5 weeks.

My question however is about Clomid and Femera. Which works best? And how exactly is it taken if I don't start a period on my own? I think he said you take Clomid on CD 2-5 but I don't remember. My husband will be doing a lot of traveling (he's out of town right now for 4 more weeks, been gone for 1 already) for work and we want to find out the best way to time things so we know he's home when it's time to do the baby dance

Any suggestions, helpful tips or thoughts for a newbie??

I can only speak for Clomid and say that I hated it. It made me feel awful. I didnt O on 50 mg or 100 mg and O'ed late on 150mg. It was awful and I told the Dr I was never taking it again.
I have heard good things about Femara especially compared to Clomid, but havent tried it yet. I am waiting till after my lap is done to see whats going on and if I have endo.

I have been on on clomid started on cycle 3-7 then after you are done clomid rule of thumb was to baby dance everyother day it worked for us i was on 150mg good luck

I struggled on Clomid as well, though not until the 6th month of it. I think my doc just put me on too much for that month. I think I was taking 200 mg that last month. I woke up after my 2nd or 3rd day and had double vision for a little while, and some pretty odd headaches. Then I started getting some head rushes and such (which I still get every once in a while - a year after being off the med). It was very much less than enjoyable that month.

Although, my first 5 months when I was taking lesser amounts were fine. I had no side effects those months. And at least according to the otc ovulation tests, I was ovulating even with 50 mg. I'm not 100% sure why my doc was upping my dosage after seeing I'd ovulated. After that last month on Clomid, I started seeing a fertility specialist and he's timid to put me back on Clomid and has recommended Femera. I was just coming on here to do some research. Good luck!

I have used both! I used clomid and had terrible side effects hot flashes, headaches, moodiness etc...
fermra no side effects at all

clomid didn't work for me I was up to 200 mg. Fermra I am on 2.5 mg 2X a day and it has been working.

Has anyone ever heard of it making your cycles shorter. I want from 28 days to 26 month one then 24 this month. Only thing that changed was the farmea?? any thoughts

Hello ladies. I Have been taking clomid and not haveing any good results from it. I also have had the hot flashes and moodieness more then usual. I have taken 2 rounds of clomid with my first round I went to see the dr on CD 12 and he said I was not going to O but to wait and see if I get AF. Well I eventually got AF on CD 38 wish was May 16th. I went back to the Dr on and he gave me more Clomid I did the second round of clomid and nothing yet. He said to come back if I get AF... that was all he said.

I have not had AF or anyhting I am really not liking the Clomid and a friend of mine told me she got pregnant with her first round of Femara so I came on here to try to find some information about it. Whenever I go back to the Dr I am thinking I mihgt ask him about it and see if we can try that instead. Good luck to everyone!

I've never taken Clomid, but I have taken Femara. My Dr put me on it CD3-7. I O'ed on/around cycle day 13-14 both times. On my 2nd round this month, so no news yet. The only side effects I had was a couple of headaches. My Dr says its normal for Femara to take 2-3 cycles to work. Good Luck!!!!

I tried clomid, I O'd 14 days after my last pill. This is my second cycle with Clomid and I am on day 6 after my last pill, no sign of O yet but I am keeping my fingers crossed. The side effects that I noticed on the clomid is the mood swings but it is small price to pay if it works.

I tried Clomid and didn't ovulate on any dosage level that I tried (50, 100, 150). I took it days 3-7 and didn't have too many side effects with it. I am on my third cycle of Femara (5 mg), taking it days 3-7. The first cycle I ovulated on day 15, the second cycle, I ovulated really late (day 37), and I am currently on my third cycle. I have hot flashes and some minor headaches with Femara, but it's worth it if it gets me to ovulate! Good luck!

I am on my first month of femara. I took 7.5mg. days 3-7, I o'd on CD19 and now I am in my 2ww. I didn't have any side effects except minor headaches (only on the days I was taking the pills) and I ended up with a urinary tract infection (not sure if it was from the medicine but that is the only thing I can think of). I am just excited that femara made me ovulate earlier. I used to ovulate around CD28. We will see what happens.

Started with clomid(4 rounds, 50mg, then 100mg) days 2-9. I had alot more hot flashes with colmid. Just on my 1st round of femara days 5-8 (weird dose, have not seen anyone else on here with it) day 5 2.5mg, day 6 5mg, day7 7.5mg, day8 10mg. Some hot flashes and some muscle aches. Clomid shortened my cycle from 40 days down to 34, not sure about femara yet. I did not O on clomid, waiting to see if femara did the trick.

I am on my first round of Femera 2.5. I go back to the dr on the 10th to find out if i Ovulated or not. I havent tried Clomid yet. But it was interesting to see what how everyone compared the 2. Thanks!
