I just completed my first round of Clomid treatment and I didn't experience any side effects until after I had completed my 5 day dosage of 100mg. I am experiencing extreme mood swings and hot flashes. In combination with my Clomid treatment I am undergoing acupuncture treatments 1/week. I don't getting my period naturally so my Reproductive Endocrinologist prescribed Provera (progesterone) to bring on a period - I take it for 7 days and on day 3 of my period I started my Clomid. So far, my body is exhibiting signs of ovulation with CM, BBT and faint positives with Ovulation tests. I have not tried Femura but would be interested to know it's success rate. I think Clomid has an 80% chance success rate of inducing ovulation and of those 80%, 40% will conceive which is pretty standard. Best of luck!

So what are the health risks between both of them? Why do most doctors put people on clomid first before femara? I hadn't ever heard of femara until I found this forum. Are the health risks greater than that of clomid? It seems like people are having more luck with it than clomid. I have been on metformin and was considering clomid now I may ask my doctor to try femara first.

I'm also curious about why Dr's tend to prescribe clomid before femera, what the side effects are, etc. I've just finished my second round of clomid and it was a bust. I'm trying to decide if I should increase to 150mg and try again with the Clomid or if I should just push for Femera. Any thoughts on what I should do?
