Default Clomid without ttc????

Anyone else hear of this?

I'm on bcps and Met. Before I start clomid for TTC in January, my gyn wants me to do one month of clomid/met in December without having sex to increase the thickness of my uterine lining before we start TTC/met/clomid. I was not under the impression that this was necessary, and that I could start on clomid straight off bcps. I am going to talk to her about this at my visit next month, but just wanted to see if anyone else has ever heard of this.

I myself have never heard of this and really I thought that clomid actually thins the uterine lining. I know that was one of the reasons my Dr tooke me off of it. I would definately do some research before I done it good luck!!

Woah! Big red flag there... Like danare said, Clomid actually tends to THIN OUT the uterine lining. Plus, the majority of doctors will limit you on how many rounds you can take (the norm is 6), so why on earth would s/he want you to waste a round with not BDing? I would do some serious looking into this...and then perhaps find a new doctor.

GL to you.

Wow, ok. Can someone direct me to more info regarding clomid and uterine lining? Obviously its not good to have thin lining while TTC, so is another med taken to build it up while on clomid? I'm confused....

I have an appt next month so will question her on all this. I agree - I'm going to reject the notion of a "practice" round of clomid. Seems wasteful.

I would suggest doing some Googling; you'll no doubt find plenty of info that way. Clomid doesn't always thin the uterine lining (it didn't affect me that way). I've never heard of anyone taking another drug to thicken the lining at the same time they were taking Clomid. There are other drug options (like Femara or gonadotropins) if Clomid doesn't work for you (either by thinning the lining too much or by not actually causing ovulation.

HTH and GL!

Can't you do a month of Prometrium to help plump up the lining?

Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.

Great question. I've used it to bring on AF when I've gone months without her, so I know it works on me. I'll ask the GYN when I see her next month.
