Default Cloth Pads?

I'm not sure where else to post this, but Cloth Pads are an alternative way for AF.

Does anyone else use these?

Need more info?

Compare them to Regular pads?

I read a very informative, 4 page article about these in Making It Home Magazine.

here is a link they provided in the article...
http://www.hillbillyhousewife.com/sanitarypads.htm

http://homemademama.com/MamaPads.html scroll down to see the FAQ's that were in the article.

hth, and hope this was ok to post what I knew.

Those are fantastic links thanx sylvia.

I think a lot of cloth nappy sites have patterns and info on cloth pads as well, ask on the mommy board or in the cloth nappy thread.

I have been using cloth pads from http://www.lunapads.com and they are more comfortable than the disposable ones. The cloth pads do need to be changed as often as the disposable, nothing different there. I wash them in cold water, no fabric softner (it makes the pads less absorbent).

I've also tried the Diva Cup, an alternative to tampons, but I think mine was the wrong size because I couldn't get it in properly.

Erica in IL,

How well do those LunaPads work?? I've been thinking about switching over for years now...but I worry about leaking thru. I wear a pad every day for stress incontience and I would LOVE to be able to move over to something organic, but I don't have that kind of money to spend on them just to find out that they wont' work for my needs.

What are you thoughts?

I really like the LunaPads. They're much softer than the disposables. The only downside is because they don't have the sticky back they have a tendency to move on me as I pull up my undies. They have a couple of snaps on the wings to keep them attached. Once the undies are on they stay in place.

I bought the Maxi Pads w/ liners and I like how on my lighter days I can take out the liner or use the liner on heavier days.

As far as colors, I wasn't picky so I bought the clearance pads and they sent a fun assortment of colors. If you prefer, they do offer solid red or red prints so any blood that doesn't wash out is harder to see.

Thanks for the article and info. I've seen a few people on a crafter selling site called Etsy who sell them. Someone even said those pads were their best sellers. However, I wondered why people would use them, but of course I didn't dare ask her. Makes sense based on what you all are saying, but I will probably stick to disposables for now.

Hmmm....I'd be tempted to sew a couple of dots of velcro on...the soft side on your undies and the rough on the pads...I think I'm going to get a few and see how I like them Thanks for the info Erica
