My Mood: Points: 2,633.91 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,633.91 | Clotting? (sorry, gross I know) I know its gross - but if I can't ask here where can I, right? Like I posted earlier this week, I started my period "on my own" after bein gon BCP for a month. My periods are painful as it is...I always have SEVERE cramps and alot of bloating/discomfort but I've come to live with that. What is freaking me out are these huge clots. Some of them are so big I can hear them drop when I use the restroom (again, sorry gross I know!). They honestly SCARE me! I don't like to see them...and so many! Is this common in people with PCOS or should I be concerned?? Thanks, Jen

Points: 3,362.53 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,362.53 | I had a similar problem with the clots. I wasn't on BCP or any other meds. This was before I was diagnosed. Actually the period with the terrible clots is what got me in the drs office and finally diagnosed with PCOS.
And you're right. The clots are freaking scary, especially if you don't know anything about PCOS, and you're under the assumption you're healthy. I thought I was having a miscarriage of a pregnancy I knew nothing about.
Whether this is common in PCOS sufferers, I'm not sure. I have noticed several other people posting different threads asking about period clots though, so maybe it is common amongst us. |

I've talked to my doctor about it on more than one occasion and she seems to feel that it is largely due to the pcos and continues to tell me not to worry about it. Not sure if that will make you feel any better or not, but that's just my 2 cents! |

I have not been diagnosed with PCOS (but have all the hair growth and loss to go with it) so should I bring this up with my doctor? |

My Mood: Points: 3,753.92 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,753.92 | I tend to get them when I have not had an AF for too long. I also noticed after getting back on Provera in Jan. that I had had them each month. Not sure if it is PCOS related, or justsomething women get at times. |

It is the grosses feeling in the world and no matter what I am doing I have to make a beeline for the bathroom because after I pass one I start bleeding so heavy for about 5 minutes and if I don't get to a toilet I have a mess....and that is with 2 pads. I also got this with my first dose of Lupron. I don't know if it is PCOS related or not. But it is not a fun thing to deal with.

I started on the aspirin when we started TTC, and it greatly improved my clot issue. They used to be sometimes golf ball sized, quarter sized mostly. Now since being on the aspirin, when I do get AF I get one or two clots occasionally (maybe two or three during a six day AF) and they are less than pea sized if I do have them at all. It's helped me a lot.

My Mood: Points: 3,627.89 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,627.89 | I don't remember a time when I didn't have clots. I don't seem to have the same pain as others describe here, but I do get them, from the size of a dime to about a half dollar.
Since I've started on the low GI diet and have started to try to get my PCOS under control, I'm getting fewer of them and they are smaller in size. While she didn't say that it's directly connected to the PCOS, the naturopath did indicate that the better I have the PCOS under control, the smaller the clots would be and the less frequently I would get them.
