Question Clueless...Opinions Please

I was wondering if these symptoms seem related to IR or Type II Diabetes. My Gyno did not test me for IR due to my normal weight (125 lbs) ...I guess she thinks if you're one you can't be the other.

Here are my symptoms:

- Hunger hits me all of a sudden. I feel fine and then I'm starving. The starving feeling actually feels more like a sick feeling. I don't even want to eat...but I'm hungry weird?

- When I'm hungry I get very lightheaded, dizzy, foggy headed, grumpy, weak in the knees

- Once at work hunger came over me and I got all these symptoms. A girl I was working with said I turned very pale and there was a blank stare in my eyes. I got so dizzy I had to stop serving my customers and take my lunch early.

Are these symptoms of IR? Hypoglycemia? Type II DIabetes? Should I ask for her to test me? Would Met help this?

Thanks so much for your time!

My Hubster Has Hypoglycemia And It Sounds Like What You Are Describing. If He Eats In The Morning Early Or Eats Something Sweat, Within An Hour Or So He Gets Pale, Shakey, Confused, Sweaty...almost Fainty Like. He Has Become Disoriented Once. He Tries To Remember To Eat More Often To Try And Curb This...he Is Thin And Tall...about 6'3" And 170...and Has The Metabolism Of A Jack Rabbit. He Can Eat Anything He Wants...i Hate Him Because I Am Diabetic Type Ii

I'm type II diabetic and you just described me exactly when my blood sugar goes too low.

But it sound like it might be hypoglycemia if you're not diabetic.

New here... I have been having the same feelings. I suddenly (like one second I am fine and the next I feel sick) am so hungry but so sick feeling I don't want to eat. I feel dizzy and lightheaded, almost nauseated. My weight is also normal. I don't know if my gyno tested me or not... she wasn't very helpful/kind, and I have an appointment with a new doctor coming up. I guess I have to make sure to mention these things.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to give a little update in hopes it may help someone else.
I went to my Gyno last week and she told me the symptoms I have been experiencing are indeed hypoglycemia. She told me hypoglycemia is a precursor to Type II Diabetes and gave me several ways to keep it under control.

- She is testing my glucose levels
- She told me to eat several small protein rich meals a day
- When I feel my symptoms I should suck on a hard candy to raise my sugar level
- I was put on 500mg of Met a day to control my PCOS symptoms

I really hope this helps! Dance0016 if you have any questions just ask…I’m new to PCOS too.
Age 20 and just diagnosed this year

Oh lord - reading this I had flashbacks to my hypoglycemic days! The only symptom I had that you didn't describe is that my breathing became odd - sort of like I was breathing through a wet cloth. I'm so very glad that your doctor tested you! Just remember when she say 6 meals, she means small meals. (I took that 6 meal thing WAY too literally lol )

lol thanks Chow-n-Rott I'll try and remember to eat several small meals...as opposed to several regular meals I haven't gone for my glucose fasting test yet but I plan to soon. I'm going to be starting Met next week (500mg a day).

I was wondering what kind of protein rich small meals would you recommend? I'm kinda lost here...

Thanks so much!

I'm going to see the doctor today (well actually just a nurse.. I couldnt get in to see a doctor until march! I'm hoping she sees the importance and calls in the doctor lol). I'll be sure to mention all these things to her... And I'm interested to hear the answer about good protein rich meals...
