Sounds exiciting, I know, but it isn't. I'll start of by saying that I'm basically chronically cold. I think I got that from my grandmother. My dh laughs at me when I bundle up for mild weather, but I know I'll be cold, so I layer accordingly.
Lately though, I'm cold during the day, as usual, but at night I'm just dying of being overheated. Last winter we had a down comfortor and an electric blanket, and I kept my blanket cranked and was nice and toasty. This year, good god, I can barely stand a light blanket, then I sweat like mad and I'm freezing by morning. Back in Nov the endo upped my Met XR from 1000 mg to 2000 mg to get my physical symptoms in check, though my hormone levels were fine.
So, is it possible that I'm getting hormonal hot flashes and night sweats? (I'm only 28 btw) I swear I've had some mood swings lately too, PMS has gotten a ton worse. (Though I think someone mentioned that was because I was probably actually ovulating.) I never sleep well either (that really isn't new) so I always feel run down too. I even tried taking Simply Sleep for about a week, but hardly noticed a difference. I've even been taking extra B vitamins these past couple months in a hope to get some energy back. No real luck there either.
I suppose I have been under slightly more stress lately (looking for a new job) so that doesn't help. I think I'm also getting more "met tummy" than I was before, though it's not real bad. Some days I swear I should be transparent though! My skin (which is worse than it was in high school) has still not improved that much, despite using more products etc. I'm also noticing a lot of 'baby hairs' around my hairline in the past few months (before the upped dosage).
I just don't know how to get these other symptoms in check and it's frustrating. I told the NP at the Dr about them all when I was in, but all she did was scribble it in her file.

I used to be chronically cold too, as a matter of fact when I noticed I had become chronically hot (comfortable in short sleeves in 40 degree weather) that I began to wonder about my hormonal balances. lol
I *think* I remember reading on the Met pamphlet that the pharmacy gives you that sweating could be a side effect. When I have ever taken any medicine that said that I would get horrible night sweats. And have just started noticing this recently since starting Met. So my suspicion lies highly with the Metformin being the culprit for me.
Reading your post, it seems that I have written it. I have all the same issues, though I'm not on met, nor am I taking any other medication. I have been on a variety of alternative therapies, though, the symptoms you've decribed have not increased or decreased due to these.
I am sorry that I don't have any suggestions. I just wanted you to know that you aren't alone. If anyone does have suggestions about the acne, baby hairs, cold-day/hot-night problems, I'd love to hear 'em.
The only thing that's come to mind so far is that fact that I take my pills at night. And even though they're time release, it's still that initial saturation at night, so maybe that's what's triggering the overheating during the night. Otherwise, being cold during the day is normal for me!
I can't imagine working at an ice rink too! I am a big fan of sweaters though I've started doing light thermal layers when I need to wear regular dress shirts and stuff like that. Even in the summer I hate leaving the house without 2 layers!

OMG, I think you are all talking about me. When my DH and I were first married in 2003 he would be the hot one at night, wanting hardly any covers on and know we are just opposite. It does not matter how cold it is in our room, I am cold when I go to bed and by morning I have the covers kicked off and am still sweating and it does not help that my DH is cold and trying to cuddle up to me to warm up. I am also cold during the day at work, but mostly in the afternoon not so much in the morning.
At times, I think I work at an ice rink. I work at a fitness center and heaven for bid the people work out actually sweat, instead lets freeze the employees out. I think our AC runs year around.
Have a great day everyone.

Wow, that does sound familiar. My DH is always hot, and that used to be nice cause I was cold, but now that I get so hot at night I can't even let him touch me cause I overheat! The other problem is he throws the extra covers over on me when he's hot and then I wonder why I'm sweating to death!
My desk is literally the coldest place in the office, all the guys love it because it's so cold, but I sit there wrapped in a shawl or my coat!
Does anyone else take their meds at night? Maybe I need to start a poll...

I have exactly the same problem too! I started being extremely cold in the Spring of '05 for no reason that I could tell. That lasted until the last couple months (I switched to Yasmin about 4 months ago, btw). Now, I am FREEZING all day long with occasional hot flashes and hot as HECK all night long, but if I throw the covers back I'm freezing again within minutes. It's driving me INSANE! Especially the being cold all day part - I'm opposite of PP, I'd MUCH rather be hot than cold because when I'm hot I can do things to cool off. When I'm cold, NOTHING warms me up except a hot bath or shower. Oh yeah, I don't take Met, only Yasmin, but I take the Yasmin at night before bed.

I am the exact same!!! I have been of the Metformin for almost a few weeks now and nothing has changed. Still freezing right now but sweating at night even with a fan on.

I just refilled my perscription the other day and I was looking at the side effects and did not see sweating on there. Though maybe it's such a random one they don't add it? I think it probably sends your system into some kind of spike when you take it. But that's just my theory.
