Default colon cleanse (detox)

I've just started doing a 12-day colon cleanse/body detox -- I'm on day 2. (Bought a kit at the health food store and am following the strict diet.)

I was wondering whether anyone else has done this. What did the program involve? What results did you get? Has it made a difference in your life?

Have a sunny Saturday! (I have to stay in and study for a critical theory exam -- yuck!)

EDIT (tmi!!!): Lemme tell ya, the detox is working. 5 bms in one day???!!! My tummy is not happy with me.

I have never done one of those, but I bought somehing called Clease Today from GNC. It helps keep me going regularly. Let me know how everything comes out, ha ha. I would like to try one in the future when I have time to stay close to a bathroom for a few days, maybe this summer.

Good luck!

Hi!

Well, it's day 4 (out of 12 days) and I'm sure getting my colon cleansed. 3-5 bm per day! The pit of my stomach feels weird, in a good way: sorta empty.

The hardest part is the diet, though: no sugar, flour, tropical fruits, fatty meats, peanuts, or dairy. Dh volunteered to do this with me (he's so sweet -- he's giving up all of his favourite foods) and he's really tired of it already. I'm not sure what to make for supper today. Maybe baked fish and salad?...And lots of nectarines for dessert!!!

Wow, that does sound like a restrictive diet, but it will be worth it. I think when we come back from vacation I will give it a go. I suffer from IBS so maybe that will help. I also live in Mexico and get a bug every now and then. Keep up the good work! And what a great hubby you have!!!

I never did a colon cleanse, but I did a 5 day fast once (nothing but water). The first couple days were really hard, but then it was kinda euphoric. I felt great when it was over. What you're doing is probably the better way of doing it, a little slower on the results, but less stressful on the body.

Hang in there....you're both going to feel wonderful when it's all over!!

lol, my dh is the best! and he despises this diet, but he is now the one who is encouraging me to keep going. (i will pass out if i can't have cheese or pineapple soon!) he's lost 8-10 lbs in 4 days!!!!!!!!!!! i'm so proud of him. (he's so cute, though: his pants keep falling down, literally!)

a cleanse is apparently great for ibs. my kit says, though, not to take the laxative part if you have that, just the cleansing herbs. if you ever try it, let me know what happens: i'll tell my friends who have ibs.

We live just north of a large Mennonite colony. I have yet to go down there. They say if you want plants for your garden they have the best around.

Hi Im doing a detox diet. I have been on for about a 1 1/2 months. I have lost 26lbs. Im sure alot of it was water weight since I retain it badly. I didnt do the colon cleanse but have celiac disease so I have been cleaned out for years before doing it I feel a ton better and finally have loads of energy. Not sure if its the toxins or because the celiac disease is being taken care of through it.

Its called the paleo/caveman/ hunter- gatherer diet. It goes by many names. It's how I found out I have celiac disease. I thought it was ibs but read up on it and found out it was altogether something else then had blood work to confirm. Thankfully controlled by diet. Here's a link about it http://www.earth360.com/diet_paleodiet_balzer.html Its similar to the diet your on but with a few changes. You can eat any kind of fruit but no beans or potatoes and no grains and I dont eat fatty meats only lean ones.

It was hard at first but after a few weeks my cravings stopped. Good Luck on yours

hey one hit....

I have detoxed a few ways...

First of all! GOOD WORK on your progress!!! I am so proud of you!

I did a blessedherbs.com detox kit. If you want to be grossed out or fascinated, they have pictures on their site of what comes out. It's wild.

Before that, I did the master cleanse...only made it 10 days but it was wicked cool and I felt the best I had ever been before I started getting sick and stuff!!!! I think it's also called the lemonade diet or something...I think because people can lose lots of weight on it...I wanted to detox. There is someplace on the internet that you can get the older version of the book free online...I just can't remember where.

I think detoxing is a long process....

And have you ever heard of detoxing via liver flushes??? THAT is by far the craziest. Sorry if this grosses anyone out...but on www.curezone.com in the liver flush forum, you can learn about some WICKED stuff. I never passed anything really bad but I did pass some liver flukes. EKK! I started doing liver flushes a year ago and need to start back on those. I NEVER knew this sort of detoxing stuff exisited before a year ago. Once I started doing liver flushes, my PMS got better, my moods were better, my skin was better....at the time I was still undiagnosed with PCOS..but now it all makes sense that it's all tied together.

Happy detoxing!!!!!!!!!

Hi all:

Ok, the detox stopped at 6 days. I cannot do any more. I didn't mind the strict diet, per se, but I could not tolerate how BAD all foods smelled and tasted. Everything seemed to stink. All I could eat for the last half of the detox was fruit. I didn't want to eat anything. I was never hungry and didn't have cravings for junk food: only for tropical fruit and cheese. So, although I lost 3 lbs (first time ever -- my weight's been stuck for years, no matter what I do, although I'm not overweight, just curvy!), I don't care: I WANTED CHEESE!!! lol Just one stick of skim mozza, that's all!

Dh was both happy and disappointed that we ended it. He hated the diet, but he'd lost 10 lbs over the 6 days, so he was thrilled about that.

I am sorry you had to quit. My Aunt goes to some herbalist who does it for her. I am not quite sure what all it consists of, she said mainly thought she goes in and she gets comfortable and they stick some tube thing in her and start cleaning her out. It costs her like $250 every time she does it, and she goes 2x a month. I am thinking of trying it, but if I do it, I will go buy it at the health food store as I am leery of having anybody stick anything inside of me.

But, thanks for sharing your story, and congrats on the weightloss for both you & your hubby.
