Default Coloring/perming

Does anyone know if coloring and/or perming your hair will cause the hair loss to increase? I just colored mine a few weeks ago and would also like to get a perm but am afraid it will make my hair loss worse! I used to have such thick hair! Now, it's thinning and very lifeless.

Thanks for any comments!!!

Since hairloss with pcos is hormonal I doubt if coloring or perming your hair will cause more hairloss. But I do think that because thede things are not so healthy for your hair it won't do much good to the shine/health condition of it. Why not go natural and color with henna? In good shops you cab choose between all sorts of colors, not only red: blonde, light brown, dark brown, light red, wine red, black. It is possible to mix various colors to get the color that you want. You can even take the one without color, just to boost the condition. Because henna makes your hair look a lot better end fuller, even though the effect last only a couple of weeks. However you can only color it the same color or darker, going from dark to blonde is not possible. That's because henna puts a layer around the hairstrays and not, like chemical coloring, penetrates it.

Thanks Charliegirl! Where do I find just the henna? Sounds like it is very beneficial for hair.

It sure is.
Well, I buy mine in a small alternative shop that also has herbs, massageoils and all that, but that's in Belgium and of no help for you. I think you best look around in your area. In 10 years I have tried a lot of brands (one from a Chinese shop, in a Maroccan shop, The Body Shop) but so far the best one is from the shop I described above. They don't sell in packages but you ask for a certain amount of grams. I know their henna is from India.
For the best results you leave it on one night and sleep with it.
Be sure to ask the person behind the counter for info (like: is it okay to use this together with perming,...) Henna in itself is fine but is known to have weird reactions if mixed with something chemical.
Good luck! I'm sure you'll love the healthy shine and volume henna gives your hair.
