For diet: I've been tracking calories (keeping it between 1300 and 1500 a day) and trying to keep the carbs under control. I'm battling with a 64 oz/day water goal... the best I've done is 56 oz, but I'm getting there!
For exercise: I'm on the WiiFit challenge thread and am nearly halfway to the 600 minute goal for June. I've dusted off my treadmill, and this week I got on it 3 times (30 minutes twice and 45 minutes once). I don't stick to routines well, so I find that having an overall goal of minutes per week or month works for me. That way, I can do more or less when I feel like it (let's face it ladies, some days you can only get 20 minutes out of yourself, and other days you're a dynamo and could do an hour!). I also avoid all of the motivation-crushing guilt of "missing" a day. It's working so far!
I started on June 3rd, at 243 lbs and this morning it said 240.5 lbs. I'm kind of afraid to actually put that number down until I see it more than once, but it seems like everything I'm doing is working!
My goals are: I WILL lose 16 lbs (or more!) by September! (That's at least 1.5 lbs per week.) I WILL lose 42 lbs total (or more!) by Christmas! (Again, that's at least 1.5 lbs per week until the end of the year.)
Other goals: Get strong enough to do 1 push-up... then get strong enough to do 10! To be fit enough that I am not out of breath when I get to the top of the stairs to my office.
Ok, I'm done. But I'll tell you all right now: By next year, Lane Bryant will no longer be getting my business!

I would like to lose a total of 100 pounds by this time next year, that my goal but if I can do it sooner that would be GREAT. I'm gonna cheat alil today which porbably isn'a t a good sign, but I have given myself one cheat day a week and today is that day. Taken my mom to dinner for fathers days because she is the best mom and dad I could ever ask for!!!

I am and have lost 6 pounds already. I started a personal 90 challenge on May 4, 2008 for 90 straight days of exercising. The low carb eating plan has been a bit shakey but I am pretty straight now.. I've even started a blog about it. (It's linked in my siggy)

HKittyCrzy, just because he's not it a war zone doesn't mean it's not extremely hard to be away I feel for you, a lot... Let's surprise our men with looking and feeling our best!
Bells4her, You get on that wii girl! 16 lbs by sept is so doable, no worries there! Just stay encouraged with your support systems online here and in your everyday life Drink your water like you're doing a fear factor challenge! GULP! Tell yourself that before you drink up, you can't do "something you enjoy" (ie, tv, shower, snack, etc.) Bye bye crazy Lane Bryant sizing weirdness!
svaldez, you can do it, summertime is the perfect time because we tend to eat less. Just watch those BBQs and get togethers! By the time Sept rolls around you can be the envy of the teachers lounge (and oh my word, your kid is soooo cute!)
justamy, there is no reason you cannot lose that weight and meat your goal. NONE, ZIP, ZERO! Seriously, NO REASON! You just need to decide once and for all that you are going to do it so that 10 years down the road you won't have to be fighting the same battles and still thinking about it. Who wants to do that? Plus, your body will thank you. If you are still 100 lbs overweight in ten years, chances are that your body will be suffering in some way. Get rid of it now while you have the chance! You are doing awesome, 10 lbs gone already!
Tinamariewelch, I think I may have your number because of what's under your avatar... mother,wife,teacher,friend.... All very wonderful, but where do you fit in there? Losing weight means that you are just going to have to make time for yourself! Remember, all the people that count on you will also majorly benefit if you take the time you need to reach your goals Good luck with BL!!!
Regina, exercise is a wonderful thing! Think of how good you are going to feel at the end of this time! More fit, confident, most likely you will be addicted and need to make it a way of life! I have the same goals of nice hair and skin. I'm looking forward to checking out your blog!

I've been focusing on getting back on track with my exercise first. I went to my step class on Monday and am going again tomorrow. In fact I emailed my friends to tell them I would be there so there's no backing out. Monday was my first workout after being sick with a sinus infection and I did pretty well so I'm proud of myself for that. I have weigh in tomorrow as well so we'll see how I did. If I stay the same or lose I'll be happy. AF showed up today. There's no junk food left in the house so it's time to go shopping for some good stuff.
Hope everyone else is well on the way to their goals.
TTYL,

"How do I stay so positive and upbeat? It's a choice. I just heard from my Dh about an hour ago (He's in Afghanistan) and he said that he was in an extreme firefight today, like something out of a war movie. What do I do with that? I know that he is getting shot at. I know that last week his humvee hit a roadside bomb. (Praise God he is okay). I could wallow. I could cry all day, I could be depressed. OR, I could thank God that I am alive, he is alive, our daughter is alive, and we are all healthy, coherent, and for the most part doing well. We live in America. We are not starving. My husband is not dead, my daughter is a vibrant 2 yr old. I have all of my limbs, money for necessities, friends, and I believe that if I die, I will be in heaven. As long as I am alive, I will have praise for these things. Sometimes I have to tell myself out loud to be grateful. A heart of gratitude is what will get you through these times. When people forget to be grateful, then creeps in dissatisfaction. Dissatisfaction turns to depression. I will never be a victim of my circumstances. Though I seldom have control over life, these things will never take control of me. I will control my attitude, my heart, my actions. Bottom line.
It's not to say that I never struggle, Of course I have my moments of pain and sadness. It's okay to be human and admit that you're not okay all of the time! It's just important to try and have more times of joy than sadness"
You're officially inspirational! I am going to choose not to be a victim to my circumstances anymore, I'm fed up of hearing myself whine about my life or situation...God has given me a lot and I have to be thankful. TODAY I'm going to make changes, can I keep checking in here? I am 180 lbs, Ideally I'd like to be 144 by September, but to be honest if - no, WHEN - I lose anything, I'll be happy, I've changed my diet some, but not enough and need to get off my butt! I love your peppy attitude, you should be a cheerleader! Lone_Cyster

I'm back ladies! What's up Chelsae?! I am so in tune with everybody. It has been a stressful couple of weeks for me and when I get stressed, I start to eliminate stuff in my life. I told my beau on Monday he has until Friday to get himself together or he's out. Bottom line. I bought a car 2 months ago from a good friend that turned out to be a piece of ish! Electrical problems, air compressor shot. My boy took my money and out of two months, I've driven the car maybe 5 times. The car has to go. Insurance canceled will be sold by Friday as is. A friend for 18 months is now acting like he doesn't care and not handling the things, like the car situation, like a man should when he see his woman struggling. He was told yesterday, 'I don't need you'. This past weekend was hell for me. I missed my workout. Didn't eat the way I should have because nerves had my stomach messed up. Yesterday, after cleaning house, I took my life back. I'm back on it with fruits, veggies, protein and exercise. I only had time for 30 mins of activity yesterday, but today I'm back to my 90 minutes a day. I say all of that to say, I'm in control! It's about a healthy me and preparing my body for my baby next year. Things that weigh me down has to go.
We are here for one another ladies. I'm back on it ladies. Let's be selfish and make everything else revolve around us. I started sinking into my pitty party this weekend and I was like whoa! How is this benefitting me? I've come too damn far to let these things take what I have worked my ass off for! We've come too far ladies. Let's go! We can do it!

Yay everyone! I'm so proud of you guys! Realizing that you are in control is such freedom! There is freedom in choosing how YOU are going to live, love, eat, exercise, etc.
Scapoodle, I'm so glad that after you cleaned your house you TOOK YOUR LIFE BACK! Be encouraged by the people in your life who will bring you up!
Lonecyster, I'm so happy that you are finding out these truths at a young age. It is wisdom that my mother gave to me.
Lightfellow, good for you for motivating those in your life who are important to you!
Reginia, Thank you so much! DH hasn't seen me in person yet. I have always had long hair and recently donated close to a foot!
You guys are doing so great, keep checking in!

I'm down 1lb so I'm doing something right. I updated my tickers last night as soon as I got home.
I have a question for all you ladies; What do you like to do for exercise? I'm really enjoying a step aerobics class. I just have to find something equally as fun to do on Fridays. My instructor only teaches it on Mon & Wed. I belong to 24 hour Fitness so I have access to all those classes.
Chelsae-Did you donate to Locks of Love? What a great idea! I only wish I had known about that many years ago when I chopped my hair off.
I'm off to WW online to journal my food for today. I'll check in with all you tomorrow.
