lightfello: I love kickboxing. To me, if I don't sweat like a pig I'm just not doing anything. I do dvds at home. Gyms aren't in my budget right now.

Monday I have an hour with a personal trainer, so I'm really looking forward to that! I will post what she tell me You are doing great! Just get the exercise in, even if you flail in your livingroom to your favorite song About the hair, it went to Locks of Love which made it a lot easier parting with it!
Scapoodle, You are so sweet! I hope to knock his socks off! Like, he's going to be looking for me at the airport on reunion day and not even recognize me!!! BTW, I love what kickboxing does for the thighs~ Even with Tae Bo I had a nice physique! Keep going girl!

My Mood: Points: 5,346.19 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 5,346.19 | Well, I don't have much of an update, but I wanted to make sure I keep coming back here! The 240.5 lbs I *hoped* I really was in last post was actually true! I lost 2.5 lbs in just under 2 weeks and I was soooo excited! My official weigh-in days are Mondays, so I don't want to count it yet, but the scale said 240 lbs (no point 5 this time!) this morning, so another half pound, at least!, this week.
I'm more excited about losing weight this time than I have ever been before because I know that this time it will actually work. Let me explain: I am, obviously, an overweight cyster, due to what the dr who FINALLY dx'ed me called "profound insulin resistance." When she got my blood test results, she told me that it was no wonder I couldn't lose weight! (It was so amazing to hear a DOCTOR actually believe me when I told them that I REALLY HAD tried to lose weight!)
I know I'm going on for too long, but I'd like to tell you what I have tried before to lose weight. About 3 years ago, a brand new health/fitness center opened up right near my house. I decided to join, and I LOVED it. I went at LEAST 5 days a week, but usually EVERY day. I did water aerobics 2x/wk, weight training 2-3x/wk, and 45 min to an hour of cardio (between the treadmill, elliptical, and recumbant bike) every single time I went. I kept my calories around 1500/day. After six months (from March to August), I had only lost 12 pounds. That's an average of half a pound a week, when I was working THAT HARD. When it came time to pay for the next 6 months of membership, I just quit. I was so frustrated!!!
So, anyway, now that I've been dx'ed, the dr put me on Metformin in October, and without even trying, I went from 260 to 243 by April. (That's 17 lbs in 6 months, WITHOUT DIETING OR EXERCISING.) Now, I have begun to actually TRY to lose weight, and as I said before, this time it's actually working! This is the first time EVER that I've lost a pound (let alone MORE) in a week! It took me FIVE weeks to lose 2.5 lbs before I was on Metformin, now I've done it in one week!
Ok, I'm done now! I'm just so excited for this to be finally working! I've been wishing I could get under 200 lbs for the past 10 years of my life, and I am finally going to get there this year! And, I'll tell you, I DESERVE this!

Right now, I am not doing the workouts that I was doing at the gym before. I don't live anywhere near there any more, and unfortunately there isn't even a YMCA within an hour of where I live now. So I'm making do with what I have here. Currently I'm in the "working up to it" phase, and I am averaging 30 to 60 minutes of cardio and/or 20 to 30 minutes of strength-training type stuff about 4 or 5 days a week. (Sometimes I do both, sometimes just one.) I own a treadmill, so that's a plus and it's really helping me get my cardio in! Strength-training wise, I'm just doing things like crunches, push-ups (against the wall because I can't even do one modified push-up on the floor), and various arm-toning towel exercises. (I thought it was crazy at first, but using the towel and your other arm for resistance makes for a TOUGH workout!)
For my diet, I wanted to do the low GI thing, but dayum, that is hard to follow because things aren't labeled with its GI. I found it really annoying and stressful! So basically, I'm trying to keep the calories between 1300 and 1500 (ranges work better than hard numbers for me), and within that, I'm trying to keep Carbs to around 45% (150g-175g a day), Fat around 30% (45-50g), and Protein around 25% (75-85g). That puts me pretty much right between what the USDA recommends and what the Zone Diet recommends.
I know, it's a lot of numbers, but I'm keeping track of everything in a food diary, and I'm just weird like this... it works for me and keeps me motivated. Whatever works, right?
As far as WHAT I am actually eating, I'm eating the highest fiber carbs I can stand the taste of, I'm keeping my meats as lean as possible, and I'm eating as many different colors of vegetables I can find. I'm using cooking spray instead of butter/oil, and there is officially no ice cream in my house! Really, the only sweets I have are Hershey's Dark chocolate miniatures (just one makes the cravings go away!) and Cinnamon Wheat Thins (which I only ever let myself have half a serving of).
Wow, I am really rambling on here. Sorry about that! I get all excited and I can't stop! LOL I'll definitely keep you updated if you really want me to... my friends/family are already tired of what they call my "diet talk" dominating our conversations!
I'm really glad you started this thread... and I'm glad my post reminded you to take your Met! BTW, I'm upping my Met to 1500 as of tomorrow... hopefully that will help me even more!!
Take care and happy calorie-counting!

We can all do this.
I lost .6 lbs this week, and I am taking it. To get out of a week with AF with a loss is amazing for me, because I generally eat like a horse during that time.
My two workouts a day are coming with a price, though. My heel spurs are HORRIBLE. I have an appointment next Monday with the foot doc, but I am not sure I can wait that long. My workouts are suffering, and I am in pain. I hope that taking today off as my weekly day off will help.
Stick with it girls! We CAN do this!

Middleschoolteach: My mom had spurs in both feet. She was miserable. If you can't stand to be on your feet, take it to the floor. Ab work and leg floor exercises will make you work just as hard as on your feet. You're still working the largest muscles of the body and building lean muscle. You're brave to even be talking about working out with spurs. . .

LOL... but you are exactly right, you won't find one in my house. I'm pretty miserable right now, actually. Cravings are taking over and all I have is healthy food! I suppose that's a GOOD thing, but man, I'd give my left arm right now for some chips and brownies!

Bought the small single pizza by Dijourno and a small bag of Doritos. Bells, I ate it, the both of them, and regretted it! OMG I was a sick little girl. Needless to say, that won't happen again. Don't know about you but I become an ugly little girl if I don't satify my craving. But fight it as best as you can!

Heh. I caved last night and had DH go buy me some McDonald's. My calorie count ended up being the highest in ALL of the month of June, at 1744 for the day, when I've been averaging right at 1300. So it was bad, but not the worst thing ever, and man did I feel better! The scale doesn't show any gain, so I think I got away with it, and AF will be over in a couple days, and I can get back to being MYSELF!

My endo and my OB have been thinking I was going to be diabetic after my pregnancy but it looks like I am pre-diabetic. My endo said that I have a good chance reversing it if I lose weight (about 60 pounds) and exercise. I get a second chance! Yay! I was on so much insulin in pregnancy- I don't want to go there again.
I want to at least lose 50 pounds before getting pregnant again.
The only problem is finding the TIME to plan meals and to exercise. Sometimes I feel like I don't even have time to think! I have a 3 yr old with special needs and a 6 week old. It's been a challenge trying to get started! I want to start south beach soon (recommended by my dr). I hope I will be able to go to the grocery store tomorrow.
I did a workout video for the first time in years tonight! I am going to do one 6 days a week. That's my plan.
