Question Which comes first?

As I'm researching to learn more about my IR, I keep seeing that it is caused by being overweight. But then I'm also seeing that the IR caused weight gain. So which is it? Which comes first, being overweight or IR? 'Cause what's ironic is that my health started getting worse when I started losing weight.

I believe IR comes first. But that is my unscientific answer.

I don't think anyone knows for sure, but it seems to me that being overweight can lead to lots of problems. (IR, heart problems, bad knees, cancers) It is definitely a heath factor. I suppose it could happen the other way around, but of people who I know personally, I think that would be the rare case. Most of the diabetcs I know have been heavy for years and their doctors warned them to lose weight, their "sugar" problems were getting progressively worse, and eventually became full-blown diabetes. The exceptions to that are "brittle diabetics" or type-1. I think most of those people are born that way, or it becomes apparent when they are children.
