Default coming off bcp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been off of bcp for 3 wks. after taking it for 3 yrs. Thus far, I have noticed a ton of hair loss. (I believe that my hair loss was triggered when I took Yasmin 5 yrs ago.) Do you think this is due to my body having to adjust and will eventually regulate itself? Do you think that this is a sign of what's to come and things will get worse? Perhaps try bio-identical progesterone to help balance things out? HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its okay, it's normal for symptoms to return or appear after coming off BCP. Try taking some vitamin B complex and omega 3 supplements they may help you. Also visit your doctor to see if there is anything they can perscribe you with to help you. Also I found some 'success stories' on the hair loss/growth forum, perhaps you could look through there and find some things to try out:

I have been off bcps for 2 years now. I find it helps quite a bit with some things.

I noticed hairloss but I had also had a baby and lost hair. Supposedly progestrone helps grow hair or atleast makes it thicker and when you stop having progestrone it will fall out. THis is what I heard about hair loss after having baby anyway. Mine was coming out in batches atleast you couldn't tell by looking at my hair but i was really thinning out.

Since I've stopped BCPs I notice less PMS and my skin has cleared up some but not completely and I don't have huge breakouts as often.

I've heard you can put prenatal vitimans in you shampoo/conditioner(one of them maybe both) and let them dissolve over a month. OR you can crush them up and make the wait time shorter.

Thank you so much, your response was helpful. Is it coming off the estrogen or the progesterone in bcp that makes your hair fall out? I have an appt with my dr on tues to check hormone profile and possibly get on bio-identical hormones, at least for a while until things balance themselves out. I hope they do b/c I can't go on like this! One more question... did you have hair loss before you went on the pill?????
