For anyone on here who thought that I was happy to be getting on zoloft from effexor - you are dead wrong. I am in no way trying to push drugs on people. I just thought this was the place to talk about our experiences...this was mine. While I totally support anyone else sharing their experience as well, I am simply asking that we all be very careful of what we say, as a counselor, who has in fact, counseled others who are on antidepressants of any sort, you can't push them off the meds until they are ready - it is not a crutch...you have to give the meds time to work. I WANT TO BE OFF MEDS, I just can't for my own sanity at this point.
For those who clearly see differently than I do, I respect your opinion, I just ask that you share it in a constructive, supportive way. I believe this board should be somewhere women with PCOS feel supported.

6/6/08 BFP!
6/30 Ultrasound : saw baby and heard heartbeat!
due date: Feb 17, 2009
I support you it's a touchy subject......There are definitely people that get the meds prescribed and they probably don't need them. I think the statistics are quite high on that, BUT there are a lot of people that do, including me. If my husband and I weren't going to try to have a baby I would not get off of them for fear of going to that dark place that no matter what I did I couldn't escape from. I feel for you daph......I was NOT excited to hear that I would need to go from one med to another to try and get off of them. It's still going well for me.....agghghghg...I wish it would for you too. I tell some of my girlfriends/co-workers about some of my withdrawal symptoms and they just stare at me in disbelief jaws hung open. it's VERY hard.
Here's some good news to hang onto. I have heard that being pregnant and having depression/anxiety issues tends to lessen with the pregnancy. It would make sense......
Anyway...I tried to pm you the other night, but it must not have gone through. Hang in there. Let me know if you ever have any questions. I'm no expert, but I am successfully down to about 7 little beads of my effexor per day. Little woozie here and there, but manageable. Keep your head high

Best of luck coming off Effexor! I had a similar experience coming off that, and from what I've heard from many others, it's miserable no matter how gradually you taper off it. I even had mild hallucinations
This is now my 2nd day of not taking anything. I was literally down to 3 little beads, then 2 beads, and then 1 bead a day. The physical symptoms are ok or not too bad. I have slight dizziness here or there. Working out hte past two days are NOT an option, but I can function. I've been pretty moody as well the past few days, but we are also in the process of making a huge decision of moving a few states away and it's very stressful. I've never left my home state I'll keep you posted. I hope the moodiness doesn't last very long. I know what daph was talking about. I also can't hang onto anything. I dropped a full glass of water last night...it was in my hands one second and the next it was gone!

Hey ladies! I have been on Paxil for a few recently switched to effexor. Paxil was REALLY bad for weight gain and I am wondering if Effexor is a little easier on the pounds.I am soooo frustrated because I am taking metformin, effexor, and phentermine(a weight loss appetite supp.) I have lost a measly 6 pounds in 6 weeks with all that pharmaceutical help--it's like c'mon I could have lost 6 pounds without putting crappy diet meds in my body. I am 5-9 208 and I need to be at least down to 170. So, with that being said how is Effexor for weight??

I'm not sure. I've heard for some it does cause weight gain and for some it does not. As I've only been off for 6 days I can let you know if I drop a few lbs easily now that I'm off. I could stand to loose 5-7 lbs. I'll keep you updated
I don't remember gaining any right after starting it, however.
