Unhappy Is This Common???

I was taking Met for 2 months (2000mg/daily). Periods became regular (every 28 days). Before then they were anywhere from 29 to 33 days. I started on the Vivelle patch (two patches) on 5/18 changing every 3 days. I was doing this to get ready for IVF. On 5/29 my BF informed me that he changed his mind about the IVF and me. He broke it off with me (heartbreaking). Anyway, I had already switched the patches 4 times.

Needless to say, I was pretty darn upset about the breakup. I removed the patches that day and stopped the Met.

I spotted very very light on the day my period was suppose to start (28 days). But I never actually started. And for the last 2 weeks I've been cramping and feeling like I will start but haven't. I've felt a little nauseated but may have just been hungry. I have taken HPT but all have been negative. (3 Walgreens brands, and 2 Dollar Store).

Is this normal? I have never been this late - well, not since I was in my teens and early 20s. Oh, I'm 43 and have never been pregnant. I have PCOS. My last period was 5/5.

I know that I'm not pregnant, but there's a little flicker of hope in my mind - maybe I am. But I know I'm not. I have a doctor's appt on Monday. Will know for sure then, unless I start my period.

Thanks!

Did you call your doctor before stopping both meds abruptly?

Either way, you should call now to discuss your current symptoms.

Sorry about DBF

No, unfortunately I didn't call my doc before stopping my meds. It was a stupid thing for me to do but I was just so devastated at the time. I wasn't thinking clearly.

I have an appt with my doc on Monday. In the meantime I still have no AF and cramping a little as though I will start at any moment. And now I'm starting to feel what feels like O pains. I'm too afraid to take another HPT - I don't want to be disappointed. But I'm so curious. Monday can not get here fast enough.

Thank you for replying to my post. :-)

I am sorry about your bf. He could have thought the whole thing through before you put your body through all the hormones and such. That's men for ya. I would think that maybe not getting your period is from stopping the meds and not coming off of them more slowly. I was also wondering if you got any news from the Dr?

Hi! Yes, I went to my doctor today and I'm not pregnant. They did a urine pregnancy test - came back negative. And they also did a scan - no baby. I think the Vivelle dots may have thrown my cycle off. Who knows?!! They prescribed prometrium and Yaz. But I think I will wait for my cycle to start on its own and then see an endo to get my PCOS in check.

Thanks for posting a response. I like being able to talk to someone that understands how difficult it is to have PCOS. Best of luck to everyone.
