Company magazine (UK) Posted this on the UK board, but I'd thought I'd stick it over here too.
In this months (April Issue) of Company magazine it has a feature on PCOS.
To be honest I wasn't that impressed with it. It made it sound like dealing with PCOS is fairly easy and doesn't have much effect on your life. Which I'm sure you'll all agree isn't strictly true! They had 4 or 5 case studies, most of whom seemed to have only mild symptoms. None of them told of their battles with excess hair, which is my main problem with PCOS. I know its different from idividual to individual, but having on of their case studies on hair would have helped explain to those who know nothing or think they have PCOS.
The difficulty in getting diagnosed was only touched on briefly by one lady. She
talked of her difficulties in getting pregnant, but after a few years of trying ended up concieving naturally. I feel someone who had to have IVF, or at least have the point of fertility issues, could also have been made.
Jane Danson (?) who played Leanne Battersby in Coronation Street was one of the case studies. She said she was tired a lot and went to her doctors where she got diagnosed with PCOS. She then went on to point out that she only made a few simple adjustments to her diet and everything was fine and she's getting on with life fine. Alright for some!
So, not really the best article I've seen on PCOS. For those who know nothing about PCOS I feel they won't have gotten a clear idea of what really is involved. |
