Default conceiving after miscarriage

Hello everyone. I had a miscarriage 2 months ago, I was about 10-11 weeks. My baby is up in heaven and she is called ruby. People are keep saying that once you get pregnant once, it will be easier to get pregnant again. Has anyone heard of this too?

i'm sorry for your loss.
i've heard it said over and over, but i've also heard it can be more difficult. your hormones change so much. i o'd on my own after my loss. just once, the first month, but it was the first time i o'd on my own in about 10 years. i don't know if concieving will be easier for me, but i start ttc again in 2 days. let's cross our fingers.
Good Luck!!

I'm sorry for your losses. My RE told me that women are more fertile for up to 3 months after they m/c. It was why she never made me wait for a certain number of cycles to TTC again. I did get pregnant with this pregnancy (I'm going to be induced on the first of July) the cycle following a chemical pregnancy. Good luck to you ladies!

Sorry for your loss.

I've heard it, but I don't believe it. I actually find it kinda insulting, just my personal feelings about it...

There's no scientific fact backing the statement up. And as I've had to tell several people, "Pregnancy doesn't cure infertility."

Woman's hormones are out of whack after a m/c, and many woman who even Ov regularly will have an anovulatory cycle after a loss.

I've never been more fertile after a m/c. I haven't been less fertile, but that's because I'm already at rock bottom on the fertility pole, I never Ov. I hardly even Ov with medical assitance.

Just my two cents.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm not sure if this is true or not either, but I've heard the same thing about being more fertile after a first pregnancy. I'm not sure if my experience was plain luck or something more, but I was able to conceive again eight months after my m/c. It probably seems like such a long time to a person who has had no trouble in the past, but the first time around it took 3.5 years! I hope that this myth does hold merit and that you are able, when you are ready, to become pregnant again. All the best.

Sorry about your loss JenAnne.
I conceived after 4 cycles of clomid and ended up miscarrying at 9 weeks.
The doctor suggested to wait one cycle to see if I would ovulate on my own but that didn't happen. The next cycle we tried clomid again and ended up getting pregnant right away with twins! It probably didnt have anything to do with being more fertile after a miscarriage but I think that it is possible.

I'm sorry about your loss JeAnne.. I too had a miscarriage in May. My first pregnancy ever after TTC'ing for over 3 years and resulted in a loss. Every doctor visit, we(my DH and I) are more demoralized than ever. All they would tell us is that our only hope is IVF, even though I got pregnant naturally. All we could do is try to not lose hope and keep praying for a little miracle that we all deserve. Stay strong, JeAnne and you will be in my prayers.

Sometimes a pregnancy will improve the ovaries' function because they are at rest during the pg, however short. So there is some logic to the statement, but pcos can rear its ugly head any time. I think it's best to hope for an easy second chance, regardless. I'm sorry about your loss, and I hope you get a sticky soon! My Ruby is the one I got to keep, thank goodness, and that name has become very special to me. I hope it serves your little one well. (((Hugs)))

Conceiving after a miscarriage brings out a lot of emotions, develops fear of another miscarriage, as well as the anxiety of not conceiving after miscarriage for the first few trials.
Conceiving after miscarriage provokes various questions like:
  • How much longer should I bleed after a miscarriage?
  • How do I prevent a miscarriage after conceiving again?
  • When should I attempt to conceive after miscarriage?

Default I too had a recent misscarriage

and I've been so terrified of having another one. I've hear that there are medications that you can take in order to regulate your hormones and help prevent miscarriage, though I don't know much about it. I have heard several places that you actually are more fetile in the few months after a misscarriage, so I'm holding out hope that I will get it soon. Good luck to you!

jenni are you on metformin or any other medications- metformin is usually the medication that they use to regualte your hormones- i take 1500 mgs a day for that reason. it has made my cycles regular(every 28 days) and has increased my cervical mucus....
also feel free to ask any questions and we will try to find answers for you

My doctor told me that on Metformin, many women tend to lose weight. I'm actually a healthy weight already, towards the low end of my recomended BMI.

She told me that if I lost too much weight, I wouldn't uvulate on my own (which I currently do, it's just usually delayed without help). I'm conviced that I'll be able to get pregnant again, but I'm so scared of losing the baby. I think I might talk to my doctor about something that I can take to regulate my hormones more, so that I won't. My CM is fine, and really the only symptoms I have are Long heavy period usually about 50+days apart (without help) and a family history of it. Nothing else yet, thank goodness.

So I'm not sure if the side affects of a medication will outweigh th positives that might come out of it. Although if it made me less likely to miscarry, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

WEll i am on the portly side-lol but met has not made me lose any weight. i started out at 500 mg cuz it tends to upset your stomach at first but now i am on 1500 and have no side effects.... are you taking a prenatal now? it will help your body put out a welcome mat for your baby....Read some of the research online about met and how it lessens miscarriage in women with pcos.... you can always quit if it doesnt work for you.. just a suggestion~~hugs~~

Default PCOS, IVF & lncompetent Cervix

I am very sorry for your loss. I understand how different it could be.
After 3 yrs of trying & then, 1 IUI & 3 IVF, I finally conceived in March 2009. I had a miscarriage on week 16 due to incompetent cervix. Being PCOS, I don't know when my periods will start again. Also I would like to try within the next 3 months.
You have a success story, so would appreciate how long do u think I should wait & what I should do during pregnancy beside clerage.

Thanks,
