Question Concerned

I have found a lump under my chin. It doesn't hurt and I don't think its getting any bigger. I have gone to the doctor and was told it was a swollen lymph node. I was told to comeback in two weeks to see if it has gone down. I check it everyday at it hasn't gone down. Upon doing some research and finding that this could be a symptom to all kinds of things, I am beginning to worry. Has anyone had anything like this before> If so what was your experience.

Wow, I never thought I'd read this. I also found a lump under my chin some months back. I woke up one morning and it was just there, and it hurt. I went to the doctor the next day, and he thought it was a thyroglossal cyst. I was refered to an ENT, and he sent me for an ultrasound, which ruled out a thyroglossal cyst. It didn't hurt anymore by then, and had shrunk somewhat. He thinks it is probably a swollen lymph node, and said sometimes they show up with a wicked infection, and take a long time to go away. Sometimes they don't go away at all. He's had one for more then 20 years, he says. I had a viral infection from my son when I got it. I go back in February for a check up. The last time I talked to him, he said he couldn't rule out anything bad, but that it likely wasn't. Well come February, I'm going to ask to have another u/s and see where things stand. I would like to have it removed all together, it doesn't feel right to just leave it there.

hi gals

about 6 yrs ago i had a very similar lump on the side of my neck - the doc said it was a lymph node, they were concerned because it went from the size of a coco pop(lol) to the size of a marble in like 2 weeks - so they decided the best thing to do was to remove it.

i havnt had any trouble since

good luck cysters

Well it went ok. They didn't have any orders on me so they took about 6 things of blood. I will find out what test were run on Thursday when I go back for my follow up. I think the lump is getting smaller but it seems harder. Maybe I'm just paranoid. Thanks for the support. I will let you know on Thursday what happens.

Hey Nat - just wondering how things turned out for you? Did you get your bloodwork back yet?

Thanks, and hope all is well!

Big hugs to you Nat and I hope that you get on ok tomorrow.

I had a lump to the left of my chin and when I went to the doctors she said it was a swollen Lymph node. I went back in a month, it still was there. She documented the size. about 3 weeks later it was gone.

When I asked her why they would do that, she said I probably had an infection in my body. So they were just working OT.

Hopefully thats all it is. *hugs*

I'm going for an ultrasound tomorrow. When I went back to the doctor last week it was still the same size and hard. Right now, it seems to be getting smaller but I can't really tell. The ultra sound is just a precaution my doctor says so she can determine if I need to see an ear, nose, throat doctor. I'll keep you posted

Good Luck Nat. An ultrasound is a good idea. It will show if it's a cyst or a mass. Anyway, I hope all goes well. Please keep us posted. Mine is still there, since May. I go to see my ENT in February.

Take Care, and thanks for the update
