Question Concerns about weight and diet... what is a thin cyster to do?

Ok, I've been thinking and I have a couple of questions/concerns

I suppose I'm considered a thin cyster. I'm only about 12-15 pounds overweight for my height.. it fluctuates. I could definitely afford to shed those pounds and I'm willing to do it for my health. But at the same time, I like the way my body looks when I'm more filled out. I recently lost (and gained back) several of those pounds (pretty fast in a non-healthy way) and my hubby was shocked at how thin I looked when that happened-- not in a good way either. I haven't been at that weight since high school and it just looked bad on me. The way my weight is distributed right now looks alright... I just have a little extra weight around the middle that I could tone up. My legs and thighs have always been "built" so I look proportioned. Wow, I'm rambling, on to my question....

Everything I read says that weight loss can help PCOS symptoms. But what do those of us do who can't afford to lose too much weight? I feel like I'm stuck with most of my symptoms because I don't have alot of pounds that I can lose to reverse those things. So just what am I to do? I'm sure the extra 12-15 pounds could help things out... but even 20 pounds would probably be too much for me even though it'll still be in my "weight range" for my height.

Also, I have so much trouble trying to eat a low carb diet. The thought of trying to plan meals around it just seems daunting to me and I just can't seem to grasp it. It stresses me out to think about how many carbs I'm putting into my body and how much protein I need to link it with. Any tips to make the transition into low-carbing a little easier?

You might want to get a body composition test.

You don't just want to lose 'weight' as much as you want to lose 'body fat' and gain lean mass.

If, for instance, you lose 15 pounds of bodyfat, but gain 5 pounds of muscle, the scale will only register a change of 10 pounds lost, but by adding the 5 pounds of muscle, you may have done wonders for improving your metabolic profile.

Many 'thin' cysters are still 'over fat'.

Fat distribution affects PCOS metabolism regardless of body weight

Thanks so much Kat! I forgot to think about it that way. I always get so focused on what the scale says. Thanks for putting it into perspective for me
