Just curious... someone I know has many of the symptoms - insulin resistant, overweight apple-shape, hirsutism, irregular periods, infertility - but her doctors say she doesn't have PCOS. I was certain she had PCOS based on her symptoms. Are there other conditions that mimic PCOS?
She's been to several doctors and fertility specialists. I've only seen my OB/GYN, who diagnosed PCOS a few years ago based on LH/FSH ratio. He specializes in endocrinology but isn't considered a "specialist". I would think fertility specialists would catch it if she does have PCOS wouldn't they?

I have sooo many symptoms of PCOS, I read the introductions here for newbies and I could be twins with half of them, my life seems to be so similar to theirs health wise...
I went to the doctor for a diagnosis, 100% sure in my mind its PCOS- They said the blood tests were fine, and the ultra sound was fine...Im just fat and cant have a baby I guess???? Its confusing the heck out of me. Now this was just a family doctor, and honestly maybe he just doesnt know what he is looking for, I have an appt to see an OBGYN who is a fertility specialist in late May and get a second opinion.
I hope she finds someone who can help her!

The numbers can be within range and still be abnormal. My LH and FSH were both "within range" but the ratio between the two was way off, indicating PCOS. I'm not sure how many doctors know to check for that. Good luck to you, I hope the fertility specialist can help.
