hi i am 16 and i was diagnosed with pcos this morning ( i had an ultrasound) can anyone tell me how im going to have to change my lifesyle like diet and smoking etc, i dont no what to think or expect and im quite scared
Hi, first let me say that you are very lucky to get diagnosed at such a young age. That means you can realy start to treat it early and hopefully keep yourself healthy. There are so many things to learn about PCOS. There are alot of realy good books out there and websites on the internet with alot of information. You should absulutely not smoke and if you are smoking please try and quit. Not smoking will help you if you decide to have children someday. Dieting is hard for everyone and there is no one diet that helps every person but I think it would be helpful for you to try to limit refined carbohydrates and sugar and try to excercise as often as you can.PCOS is no fun and you have alot of ups and downs but you can get alot of support here.

Congrats on the early diagnosis. You've overcome one of the biggest stumbling blocks. Quitting smoking should be one of the biggest things you'll need to do. More than likely your doc will probably place you on BCP which has an increased chances of blood clots when you are smoking. Also they have found connections between PCOS and asthma and I know that I developed it later in life due to PCOS so smoking something that needs to go. Other than that, monitor your carbs but don't cut them out completely as you are still young enough to still be needing the nutirents that they bring. If you need to talk you can always message me.
