Default confused

I am extremely confused, i was diagnosed with pcos when i was about 13/14 so thats 13/14 years ago and when i was diagnosed i was told there was nothing they could do for it until such time as i was ttc, and i have recently been reading things from other pcos sufferers on here and a group on bebo and everyone seems to be on medication, so im wondering what is the meds for and how is it helping, in regards to hair growth again i was told there was nothing they could do apart from support groups which at 13 was really hard as i was bullied throughout high school by boys because of the excess hair growth

so now im here and im looking for advice xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

welcome to sc

typical of nhs to say that (grr) there are things you can do for pcos. here is a link for the hair section of sc for you.

Could you see a different dr?? either at the same surgery or change surgery? thats what i had to do to get some pcos help. there is a link to the newbie roadmap in my siggie for you. There is also a link to the uk section of sc for you , too, but of course we're all welcome all over the boards

13/14 years ago, nothing to treat PCOS might have been the case. Quite a few of the meds that are used for PCOS are actually used for other conditions and drs found that they improved some symptoms of PCOSers who were taking them for different reasons.

There is a whole forum devoted to Hair Loss & Growth. You'll find a lot of answers there.

http://www.soulcysters.net/hair-loss-hair-growth/

For me, the hair loss was worse then the growth. I have very a light mustache, chin hair, and a few odd ones that grow on my face and neck. I also have a small patch of hair at the bottom of my back that I was born with. Apparently that is a trademark from my mom's side of the family, and my grandfather looks for it on all of our new family members. (My son even had it).
