Default Confused about MET ER

OKay so i started taking Met ER on Friday at 5oomg. Last cycle I had AF because the doctor gave me clomid-which I did ovulate on. 28 days later would be a new cycle-which was sunday for me. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. however no AF. Im wondering if im not getting AF because i just started taking MET. I also just looked at my CM and its a little stretchy 1-2cm. It this possible that im ovulating or is my AF coming?

Im so confused! NO side effects from MET either.

I was on Met for three months before I had AF. Then the next month I missed and the next two months I had AF again. In fact, I should be getting AF any day now. So give the Met some time. I was told when I first started taking Met that it could take up to six months for it to begin working.

Don't give up just yet!

ETA: Also you may need to go up to a higher dose of Met before it helps. I am taking 1500 mgs of it a day. Some women take up to I think 2500 mgs of Met a day. It all depends on your body on how much you will need!

Maybe ask this on the Met board to get more answers.

You said you had af last cycle because you took clomid, so does that mean you are irregular with you periods? If you are , then taking met doesn't mean you will become regular right away. It may take a few months for that. I take 2000 mg of met and some other meds and still don't have af normally. I still have to do provera. I would give it 1-2 wks if no af or bfp then start provera and start a fresh new cycle.

When your doctor gave you clomid it probably helped you ovulate at the time. But with metformin sometimes it takes a month or more for some people to have a menstrual cycle on time. I think you haven't been on met long enough to have AF possibly. Not sure on the CM question. Check out the metformin board below and welcome to SC!
