Red face Confused About Metformin

Hello everyone,
I am asking this and risking to sound really stupid as I have browsed this site quite a bit and a lot of you seem to be experts on this.
Basically went to see endo (after a long fight with my GP to do so) ,and she said after I see gyno and it is confirmed my one ovary I have left is clear of cysts and nothng weird is going on down there(fingers crossed),she will ask my GP to put me on metformin.
Also she said that if I do not wish to concieve (which I do),to make sure to use protection,as apparently there is a very big chance.
Then she proceeded saying that metformin has a highly sucessful rate of women getting pregnnt and that it does not work for ONLY 5%.
Could someone shed a bit more light on that?
Also did anyone get pregnant on metformin and does it help with the rest of the symptoms?
She also said that in the unlikely case of it not working ,we will proceed with clomid.

Any info would be really appriciated.
Thank You

Met helps getting you Oing again, thus the risk of getting pregnant. Basically Met helps restore normal androgen (testosterone, DHEAS and androstenedione) levels, often resulting in normal menstrual cycles.

Yes I got pregnant on met but I dont think it was because of the met that I got pregnant I think it was because of the fact I had lost 4 stone beforehand.

I got pregnant on Met - 6 weeks after I started taking it. But I'm not sure if it was 100% down to the Met - I'd also lost weight and had ovarian drilling so I'm sure they contributed. Still Met really does help me - my skin is practically clear with the Met, without it I get awful cystic acne. I didn't realise the success rate with Met is as high as that though. I hope it is true.

My Endo told me to take met for 6 months and if I wasn't pregnant by then, then he would see me again for more focussed fertility treatment. He said that the Met improves ovarian function so you have a greater chance of getting pg but the Met itself doesn't make you pg.

HTH
