Unhappy Confused & Frustrated on BCP! HELP!

Hi, guys-

I'm on OC (NeCon 1-35/28s) and I had intercourse w/ my SO the weekend (Labor Day) after my period (meaning like day 7 or 8). We used the correct protection (and as far as I saw/know, nothing broke) and I restarted my pills that Sunday (however, I had stopped them a day early because they were making me sick, so when I finished up, I stopped my pills on Friday and restarted on Sunday).

On the evening of Sept. 26th - Monday - (which would technically be 17 days after any sperm would be alive in my body - I really think this out to a science!), I started my period, but it was brown and only lasted until Thursday evening. There were a few stringy clots (I know, too much information) but it did not last long. I should mention I had the stomach flu on the 24th (100 degree fever, vomitting, the works).

From what I've read on implantation bleeding, that would take too long for it to be considered that, but I was just a little startled that my period was so light..it varies from moderate to heavy and every once in awhile, light. I've been having headaches and some *breast pain*, but I don't know if I'm creating that in my head because I'm actually having those symptoms or if it's from me feeling guilty about having intercourse at all and fearing I may be pregnant (I'm devout Catholic so it is a struggle for me). I also know my diet has been absolute crap for the last week (fast fatty foods, lots of salt and caffeine) so I'm gonna work on cutting that out to see if they're any improvements. On top of this, I restarted teaching this past month (Sept.) and I have been absolutely depressed and frustrated with my work.

I am just wondering, and most of you are probably thinking I'm crazy, if I could potentially be pregnant? Would I even be able to ovulate given the circumstances w/ my pill?

I know I sound paranoid and I'm rambling, but I was just wondering what advice you could offer? Anything would be helpful!

Thank you so much for listening (and reading!)

Best,
Jess*ca

Let me get this straight... you are using BCPs AND condoms? I'd think stopping one day early wouldn't make a huge difference... not perfect use but I don't think it would make a big difference. I'd say it's unlikley you are pregnant... but not impossible... Only way to know is to test. But FWIW I think most women's give-away that they are preg on the pill is NO bleeding... sounds like you may just be having a weird period.

I am just driving myself (and my best friend) nuts and I needed an opinion from someone who has been there. (For the record, my best friend thinks I'm nuts too)

Thank you! I'll finish this round of pills and we'll see where that leads me.

It's not unusual for your periods to get shorter on the pill. Mine used to be something like a week long, now it's 3-4 days. My doctor told me that they can keep getting shorter the longer you're on the pill. It's also not unusual to skip periods or have very light periods on the pill. So I wouldn't worry too much, but you could take a pregnancy test if you're unsure and talk to your doctor about how you can expect your body to respond to the pill.
