Last February my OB/Gyn did blood work on me and started me on 50mcg of Synthroid. She kept bumping up my meds every 4 weeks when I finally asked to see a endocrinologist. She agreed.
My first visit to the endo. went well. He ordered a full blood work up not just the TSH the GYN had. He examined my thyroid and I told him no one had done that before. He was surprised sine I had been on med for 5 months already. He said I had lumps and bumps which were tumors and we needed to have a sonogram done to see if it looked cancerous. He bumped my Synthroid from 100 mcg to 138 mcg without the blood work even done to shrink the tumors. Also the blood work and he would see me in 6 weeks.
I had that 6 week check up yesterday. He said the tests showed my thyroid had no tumors or cancer and my hormone levels were twice what they should be. He said for me to completely stop taking the Synthroid cold turkey and he would see me in 3 months!
I am very happy there was no cancer or tumors but what gives? I am so confused. I was actually starting to gain weight this last month with the high levels. I was so hungry all the time.
I hope this all makes sense to yall. I am confused so maybe not.

I'd be concerned about stopping the drug completely, but it does sound like you were on too high of a dose for a little while.
