Hi, I just found this site while browsing the internet for answers. I was diagnosed with PCOS 2/06 but I don't really fit in to the norms for PCOS'ers. I'm trying to figure out why my Dr thinks PCOS.
Here are my currents stats:
weight 136
Height 5'3"
I ovulate on my own
I don't abnormal amounts of hair
m/c 3/3/07 at 11w2d (there was never a baby or hb, just a sac and yolk sac)
Been ttc for 23 months (it was 19 when I recently got pg, so I just continued counting)
And here are the numbers from the test in 2006
HDL-52
LH-6.4
insulin-10.6
testosterone-38
free testosterone-1.19
%free-3.14
TSH-2.56
Cholesterol-206
triglyceride-165
FSH-4.2
LDL-121
All of these seem normal or near normal to me. I mean yes, I can't seem to get pg, and yes metformin did seem to help, and maybe if I had continued to take it I may not have had the m/c.
I would love others opinions!

Welcome to SC! Not every person has the same symptoms or problems. See this link:
Met does seem to help a lot of people with TTC, and sometimes it takes other therapies. I would post on the TTC board for questions about that.
Sorry to hear of your loss.

Thanks! I know that there are different kinds/different situations, I guess I just don't know where I fit in. I was trying to figure out which number I would fall under on the 5 types of PCOS, I guess it would either be 4 or 5.

Welcome! Your numbers (including height and weight) and lack of obvious symptoms are really similar to mine. As far as "the norms for PCOS'ers"...there really aren't any. We're all very different--a product of this condition being a "syndrome," not a "disease." While you're right that your numbers are within normal ranges, a big red flag for PCOS (as my RE put it when looking at my bloodwork) is that your LH/FSH ratio is reversed; the LH is supposed to be lower than the FSH. Did you have an ultrasound to check for polycystic ovaries? Not all women with PCOS have them, but that's another big clue that you do (mine are the textbook "string of pearls").
You're right that this can be really confusing, but keep doing what you're doing: researching and asking questions.

Good luck to you!
Thank you! I'm finding out more each day that not everybody is textbook, and that there are people like me! No I didn't have an U/S to check, I guess she was just going by my numbers and the fact that I hardly ever O on the same day (always have a 12 day LP though!) But you told me something I didn't realize with the LH/FSH thing, so thank you!

You're very welcome! Varying cycle lengths was a problem for me, too; they ranged anywhere from about 32 to 56 days once I stopped taking bcps. Similar to you, my LP is always 11-12 days, though.
My cycles aren't that long but they do vary! It's really annoying that O isn't ever on the same day! I can't remember but I think metformin helped with that the last time I was on it....
*sigh* I used to be so fertile.....
