I've been ttc for years, I give up! So, I want to concentrate on losing weight and regulating my cycles. I never have AF on my own and when it is induced I usually have severe side effects. So, bottom line is I just want to be somewhat normal. I've taken bcp's in the past. Last I was on Lo-Ovral and have really sharp chest pains after taking it for about a year, when I stopped taking it the pains stopped. I haven't been on any kind of bcp since then.
That said...........I want to lose weight. The doctor gave me a prescription for Yasmin and told me that I could decide if I wanted to give it a try or not, it's up to me. He is at a loss for what to do anymore and has no idea if I will benefit from it or not. So, am I likely to see any weight loss benefit from taking Yasmin?
Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions!
Becky

Although I ultimately decided to go off Yasmin due to depression, I did see a wonderful weight loss benefit from it. My advice, drink LOTS of water while you are on it. I made myself drink about 90-100oz of water while I was at work, I think that helped the weight loss effects. I've heard some bad stories about getting dehydrated on Yasmin due to the diuretic effects.

I have lost a little weight while on Yasmin, but I'm pretty sure it's just because I was bloated all the time previously. Like, say, eight pounds. If you're looking for significant weight loss, Yasmin alone probably won't do it, but it probably won't make you gain, either, which is a good thing.
Definitely drink plenty of water! Even if you don't start the Yasmin.

Tried Ortho-Tri, terrible terrible. Mircette saved my life. Then tried Yasmin which was OK but had some side effects.
Now I'm back on Kariva (generic Mircette) with a low dose of Spiro. Ten bucks a month and I'm in a deliciously good mood.
I took that quiz and I'm Curry Flavored, how cool is that?
Thanks ladies! I have a prescription and a sample packet but I still haven't decided if I up for it or not. I have heard so many bad things, probably more bad than good. It's been so long since I took bcp's so I can't really remember, but does it truly deplete your sex drive like I have been told it does???

Hi, I just thought I'd drop in here. The yasmin will help with the bloating but another thing I've found to be helping me is the insulin resistance diet. Go figure! I am not overweight (one of the pcos symptoms I don't have) but have the bloated belly thing and water retention. I started the IR diet 3 weeks ago. I feel great!!! No bloated belly and I think I did lose weight without even trying. Oh well 5 pounds or so. It is very easy once you read and catch on to it. Obviously I can't tell if it is helping my sypmtoms since bc pills do that for me but I doooo feel better and believe it is good for us. Just thought I'd add that the bc pill discussion.
