Question Confused :S

The endocrinologist says he dont know if i got PCOS, cushings syndrome, CAH (congenital adrenal hyperplasia) or all of them. He said he would diagnose me in september after repeating all the blood and urine tests again! But then before the tests, the gynaecologist says i have PCOS! So, he gave me medication with side effects such as weight gain, hair loss, osteoporosis, etc :/ i dont know what to do

Sorry to hear you are having a hard time... but we can all relate! My Dr says to be diagnosed with PCOS you would usually have to have both clinical symptoms(irregular periods, ance, weight gain, etc.) & ultrasound or biochemical indicators(pics of the cysts or bloodwork levels consistent with PCOS, etc.). Hope that helps clear up the diagnosis part. There are many conditions that have very similar symptoms so it may be hard to tell what you have right now. If you are not comfortable with treatment before a diagnosis, talk to your Dr. You could also talk to your Dr. about the depression if it is becoming a problem.

You may find the Teen section of this board very helpful, too. Good Luck!

Hi Rebecca,
Welcome to Soulcysters. I'm so sorry you're having a rough time with the diagnosis. I was diagnosed based on my symptoms (overweight, irregular heavy periods, AN, depression, thinning hair). But I do have the classic cysts on my ovaries too.

Met really helped me. I haven't heard of having to lose weight before met, that's a new one to me. I did lose some weight before I started met though, by watching calories and carbs. I lost more weight on met, and my periods got better too.

Don't be afraid to ask for help for the depression. Prozac helps me. Most cysters I know take something for depression also.

I'm here if you want to talk, just pm me or email me anytime.
Hope you feel better soon
Hugs
Jenny

Welcome to SC! Met has really helped me, except when I eat grains, which is just something my body doesn't tollerate well.

What medicine did your doc put you on?

Endos and GYNs are different in how they test and treat PCOS. Two ladies could have the exact same symptoms and one get a diagnosis and the other woudln't. Here are a couple of links that might help:
