I just got back from a doctors appt, for getting a perscription for a sinus infection and he said that I should be testing my sugar levels regularly. This was not my normal doctor so I have never met him beforem but he seemed to know what he was talking about with the other PCOS questions that I had.
Should I be testing? Any suggestion?

Are you taking Met or any other Meds for your insulin? It can't hurt to test. It might give you and your doctor a better idea of how your blood sugars are. Did the new doctor mention why he thought you shpuld be testing?

Nope, just asked if I was. I was on Met and took myself off for the summer, I needed a break from the side effects and I am in the sun a lot and didn't want any complications from that. I just refilled my perscription and plan on starting next week when I am off of the Antibotic that I was just put on.

are you borderline diabetic or IR? I get my bloodsdone every 6 months, my RE says that's ok for now, but it may have to increase.

I think the reason he said you should test is because, when you take the Met your blood sugar can get a little low sometimes. If you test your numbers might help the doctor figure out if your getting the right dose. My doctor did not tell me to test when I was taking Met. I think it just depends on who you go to. This new doctor that you seen today sounds pretty good. Maybe you could switch to him. LOL.

I am pre-diabetic, and take Metformin. I test my blood sugar every day. It's also a good indication of how you are doing with changing your diet (if you are). I agree, this doc does seem to be good. Maybe switch to him. Good luck.
